Official UFC Thread dammit there's two threads

Fuck it i totally forgot to lay Lauzon. :guns:

Cracking shouts balloobas well done, you called them right…
Just after watching UFC 108, I enjoyed this one mainly because the three small bets I did on it came in for a change.

The bookies had Sam Stout a ridiculous 21/10 best price to beat Joe Lauzon in what I considered to be a 50/50 fight. I had 25 on Stout to win at 2/1 with Paddy(Boyles were 21/10) and he duly obliged despite nearly getting his arm snapped in an armbar in the first round. He survived though and dominated the fight from there on.
(Dunph if you view this, did you lay Lauzon like you were thinking of?)
I also had 5euro on Paul Daley to win in round1 at 4/1, he duly obliged by knocking out Dustin Hazelett after a minute or two.
Finally I had another 5euro on the Stout/Lauzon fight to win Fight Of The Night honours at 8/1 which also came in.

I thought I was fucked with that and that the Evans/Silva main event would get it after Silva nearly pulled out the ko in the last round. It was funny to see Evans on the verge of being put to sleep again but Silva gassed so much, he could not find the energy to land another on the button.
All in all a successfull UFC for me.

Paul Daley looks like a beast of a striker, throw him a good wrestler next to see what his takedown defence is like, he could be a false dawn yet. Give him Fitch, Hughes or Koscheck and see how he does against them.
I watched this last night.

I meant to get on Stout. Totally forgot about it. Only taped the Sunday night rerun.

Daley does look like a beast. He’ll have to prove that he is not just a banger.

UFC fight night 20 is on Mon night/Tue morning sometime. A cracking bet is the Gray Maynard v Nate Diaz fight to go the distance at 11/10 with Paddy Power.
Diaz is notoriously difficult to finish and I expect Maynards wrestling to just take him down and basically lie on top of him for 3rounds. My only worry is if Diaz
can pull off a surprise submission from the bottom(a habit he seems to have especially when in trouble).
Anyway 11/10 is superb value, worth a small bet while that price lasts. I’m sticking 20 on it tomorrow myself.

Money in the bank, didn’t intend to get this result as I’m not watching it until Friday but spotted it by accident on another site.
It went to a decision as I thought it would. I only got EVS in the end and was lucky to even get that. Paddy were on the ball yesterday, they slashed the odds from 11/10 to EVS and I think it ended up at 8/13 in the end.
Sorry I didn’t stick 50 on it instead of a measly 20, anytime I have a decent bet on the UFC though it ends in disaster.

Hey Balloo,

What do you make of the card for tonight.
I’m not wild about it.

Light Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs.Mark Coleman
Middleweight bout: Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
Welterweight bout: Mike Swick vs. Paulo Thiago
Middleweight bout: Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller
Welterweight bout: Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg

Any good bets?
I’m thinking Couture to win on points. Which is evens.
After that I’m think about a accumalator involving Couture, Marquardt, Swick and Maia

Not sure about Trigg and Serra.

It’s a shit card in my opinion. The bet of the night for me is Paulo Thiago to beat Mike Swick at 7/4. I have 30 on it, the pricing is completely wrong there. It’s a 50/50 fight in my opinion. Swick will not stop him, and if there is a stoppage I expect thiago to be on the right side of it.
I also have a mickey mouse 5euro accum done online weeks ago for this which works out at about 52euro back. They are Randy,Serra,Thiago,Marquardt and Maia. I’m up slightly for the weekend anyway regardless even if no wins out of the ufc. Had 5 on nogoalscorer in the spurs/villa game at 17/2 and a tenner on Ipswich draw at 23/10. Also had 5 on no goalscorer in the pool game but alas that wasn’t to be.

God bless you Paulo Thiago… I was thinking if there was a stoppage it would be Thiago who would prevail. Swick looked good though, he was ahead going into the second before getting clipped.
Chael Sonnen absoloutely beat the snot out of Marquardt, I couldn’t believe it. He showed his mental toughness too as I don’t know how he didn’t tap to the guillotine in the last minute of the fight. Gutted with that result as I think Anderson Silva will walk through Sonnen where as I feel Marquardt would have given him a test. Sonnen is susceptible to subs too even if he survives Andersons precision striking. I’d like to see Silva beat though, just to liven up the division again.

Mark Coleman has to retire, he’s as slow as a wet week, I’d love to know what Tito roared at him to make him say “Fuck you Tito” over the mic. Wasn’t looking forward to this ufc but thought it wasn’t too bad, although the win helped matters.
It’s great catching the bookies on these overpriced fighters every so often when they fuck up.

Up about a ton so far this weekend and a sweat on the Superbowl tomorrow as well. I have a 10euro double on New Orleans to win by 1-6points @ 4/1 along with Paulo Thiago who just won @ 7/4. Let’s hop the luck continues… :pint:

All I did in the end was an accumalator on the 5 fights.

I went with Paulo Thiago and Serra seeing how you had been in good form lately.

Fucking Marquardt cost me €150…

Ben Rothwell totally overpriced at 13/10 with Boyles to beat an over the hill Crocop in the next UFC. I’ll have a piece of that. Valasquez a tempting 11/10 to beat Nog too but it’s a risky bet as he’ll try to ground and pound Nogeira and going to the ground with Nogeira is usually not a good idea. I’ll still have a small wager on Valasquez though, he should be good enough to avoid the sub.

If Big Nog is healthy like he was against Couture[as opposed to how he looked against Mir], I’d expect Nog to win.

It’s a class card, compared to the last PPV. I don’t get why they don’t have 2 good cards instead of 1 shit card and 1 very good card. What time is it on live seeing how it’s on in Australia.

Same as usual around the 2am/3am mark. They have it starting around 12pm in Aurstralia especially for tthe USA television.
It’s a tough one to call but I’ll take Valasquez at that price anyway.

How good is Bader?

He is heavyish favourite over Jardine.

Now I know Jardine’s record recently is not great but the man has some serious experience compared to Bader.
He has been the distance with Rampage.
He beat Liddell when Liddell was still near the top.
He has beated Vera and Griffin.

Ok, he lost quickly to Wanderlei Silva and Thiago Silva but Bader isn’t on that level yet.

He is erratic but it is a big step up for Bader.

Jardine to win on pts at 9/4 is the bet here i think!

Cain Valasquez has now been cut from 11/10 to 4/5 with Boyles. Big nog is EVS now CLD so that will suit you. I am not backing Valasquez now at all as that price does not represent value in my opinion. I’m not confident enough in either to warrant putting a decent bet on. I’m just back from Boyles there where I stuck 50euro on Rothwell to beat Crocop at 13/10.

A bet which did interest me was Bisping to win on points at 5/1, this has now been cut to 3/1 so my interest has deminished. Wandy to win by ko is 11/8 and Wandy to win in round1 is 10/3. I might have a mickey mouse bet on one of these yet. The reason I liked Bisping on points at 5s(when it was available) was Bispings missus is Australian and I think he’s been there longer than Wandy accclimatising. This is Wandys first fight at 185 in the UFC, he struggled to make 195 when he fought Franklin. Also he has been inactive for a while and has had facial surgery to reduce scar tissue etc. In saying that Wandy could come out straight away and win this with a display of glorious violence which is why the 10/3 in round1 is also appealing.(I hope he destroys Bisping myself).

Bader and Jardine I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole but will be rooting for Jardine.

Does Valasquez coming in mean that Big Nog is not in shape? That’s my main worry for him.

I doubt it means that, even when he wasn’t in good shape it was never public until afterwards. Valasquez is a serious threat whether Big Nog is in shape or not. I’d say maybe they just copped the price was a bit too high at 11/10 and cut it, it’s been happening the last few UFCs. If a lad was on the ball and near a bookies the day the first odds appear he can often get a way better price. Paddy had Valaquez at 4/5 for the last few days, Boyles just changed it today. Ladbrokes haven’t stuck odds up for UFC in months but William Hill take UFC bets now also.
It’s a great card alltogether, I won’t get to see it until Sun night when I download it as am boozing in London for the weekend. Stick up what bets you decide on here, I doubt I’ll do any more myself.

Hey Balloo,

Did you see this?

Ben Rothwell has dropped out of his UFC 110 matchup against Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic due to illness, according to an announcement made Thursday on the UFC’s Web site.

Anthony Perosh will replace Rothwell in the heavyweight bout, which takes place Saturday in Sydney, Australia.

The UFC also announced that Elvis Sinosic suffered a shoulder injury that has forced the cancellation of his bout against Chris Haseman.

Didn’t know about it as I was in London all from last Thursday until Sunday. I’ll get my 50 back as a nonrunner anyway so no harm done. Just after watching it, what a UFC, possibly the best one I have ever seen for excitement. Valasquez destroyed Nogeira, I’m sickened I didn’t take him at the 11/10 when I had the chance. His hand speed was crazy, it was like watching a lightweight at work, he obviously has power too as Nogeira can normally absorb a serious amount of punishment.(Maybe the fact he has done so all his life is finally catching up with him…).

Wanderlei and Bisbing was a tight affair, personally I thought Bisbing won it but it could be called either way without too much complaints by anyone. I was delighted he got the decision regardless, it was strange to see Wandy try and strike technically. It didn’t really work for him, it was only when he went back to his old violent ways of pouring forward swinging wildly that he had much success. It was probably the knockdown at the end that swung it for him in the judges eyes. Surprised he fought that way as I thought Bisbing was tailor made for his violent ways as he doesn’t throw power shots at all so even if he got tagged, should be ok to continue bombing forward.

That Stephan Bonnar fight was one of the most exciting wars ever seen in the octagon. Bonnar is as hard as nails with a concrete head, how he wasn’t ko’d in the opening exchange is beyond me. It was terrible to see it being stopped because of the cut as you could tell how much he needed the win. There was no quit in him, awful sickening the way the ref called it a TKO when it was an accidental headbutt that caused it, the blind cunt. I assume it won FOTN, didn’t check yet.
I made no money but still have my 50 to get back from Boyles which I intend to blow this weekend anyway on bets.
Any luck you? If you did not watch it, be sure to download it like I did, it’s the best one I’ve seen in years.

what about ricardo mayorga ballobas,i seee hes making his mma debut on the 15th of may against Din thomas, hows this gonna pan out,i can see it ending pretty quick a lot of haymakers being thrown by mayorga dont know anything about thomas

Interesting, hadn’t hear that at all, I’d imagine Din Thomas would have the brains not to trade with him and just take him down. If he does that he should submit him easily as he has a decent ground game. If he decides to stand and try and prove that MMA guys can strike with boxers I’d imagine he’d be ko’d within round1. Thomas always used to come in with a gameplan into fights so if I had to bet on it, I’d go for him to win by a submission of some sort, possibly a rear naked choke or guilotine. I’ll have to keep an eye out for this for the craic.
