Old Matchday Programmes

I have met Gerry Stapleton of Borrisoleigh on occassion. Would be well able to put away the pints

Did the men of thurles spend 20 years drinking from 1970 to 1990?

I think they went without a senior county final between 74 to 05. Dominated the 10 years before and after

Cork city teams were fair dominant back then

Gerald and Charlie McCarthy each having an ad in programme. You wouldn’t see 2 hurlers having ads for their business much these days .

Not quiet a matchday programme but…

Didn’t Martin Coogan do time for paedophilia

According to his wikipedia profile, yes. Then went back to run his sweet shop in Castlecomer :astonished:

yeah a sweet shop beside a school, you couldn’t make it up

Aside from some splendid Barnets the thing that jumps out is the large spread of counties on the teams. Also some of the players wearing their club jerseys.

John Connolly looked like Elvis

South’s pub has all the all stars posters from the 70s .

Do any of ye remember the bootleg programmes from the early 80s ?

By bootleg, I assume you mean illegal. Yeah. But I’m not sure they were as bug an issue back then as they were made out to be. I got stung once or twice but nothing too serious. They were pretty easy to spot.

Not illegal but unofficial :sunglasses:

Yeah. Sorry. Wrong terminology

I think that is what caused the “official programmes” shout ?
