The Irish Times have been pissing me off in recent days by spelling it “Ceausescu”, even though the articles about the Romanian revolution they printed were quite good
They obviously still have the same house style guidelines as when they wrote about Colonel “Gadafy”
My main memory of the Romanian revolution is Family Fortunes with Les Dennis being interrupted to inform viewers that the TV station in Bucharest had been taken over, by whom, we didn’t know, and the TV station had gone off the air
It seemed very dramatic and textbook for how a revolution should unfold
It even had the Family Fortunes sound effect for a wrong answer as the backdrop, which seemed very appropriate
It cost Rodney Marsh his job.
