On this day

And today is the 90th anniversary of the death of Liam Lynch in the Knockmealdowns. An event that effectively signalled the end of the Civil War.

I remember well being at the 50th anniversary commemoration in Kilcrumper in 1973. Different time entirely as you will appreciate. Truck after truck of Provos brought down from the North in full ceremonial regalia.

Where exactly is Kilcrumper Fagan ODowd ?

Kilcrumper is where he is buried Harry. It’s outside Fermoy. There is a memorial to him marking the spot where he was shot inthe Knockmealdowns outside Goatenbridge in Tipperary.

Thanks Fagan ODowd , must check that out.

The monument is worth seeking out, but it is very badly signposted. It’s on a forest track about three miles from the village.

There is an annual commemoration held there, some time in July usually.

He hid out for a while in the fields behind my house during the war of independence.

Where was that Runt?

Is the Liam Lynch Pipe band from Anglesboro still going?

It’s unbelievably 20 years today since Steve Bruce scored that late, late header against Sheffield Wednesday prompting Brian Kidd’s celebration on his knees.

I wouldn’t have put you at that age Runt.

Fuck off you spastic…

Eh? What’s the problem?

Check out his avatar Kid.

Right. Mature stuff. Don’t particularly care for any of PL teams but it was a very iconic moment.

Nothing got to do with me being a scouser. Although I do hate mancs.

We were being schooled by Fagan on one of this country’s great heroes and you pop along with that tripe. Get it together…
