On this day

Refuses to talk about it to this day apparently, or claims not to remember the goal, retired that summer.

Correct, that’s 7.8 dead Juventus fans for each one.

You’re still getting confused on your anniversaries. Man U celebrated their 75th anniversary by winning the FA Cup in 1977.

I have to correct myself on one detail of my earlier post. The rioting Man U hooligans did actually succeed in having the match abandoned on 27 April 1974, eight minutes from the end after the Denis Law goal. The Football League decided that the result as it was on 82 minutes stood and Man City were declared 1-0 winners. Some things never change, 42 years later, Man U fans still can’t take a beating with any dignity or grace. That’s probably best exemplified around here by the carry on of @dodgy_keeper.

United went on to win top flight league titles in the decades following that relegation. Currently on 20.

Gerrard went on to finish his career without winning the one trophy he craved above all else. He might win one with LA Galaxy though.

Liverpool’s title drought going back to 1990 continues.

Didn’t manyoo have a 42 year title drought?

A nice story, but safe to say Gerrard craved the European Cup, the World Cup, the European Championships above or at least equally as much as the BPL. One of which he won, in the most memorable European Cup Final of all time.

When was that mate?

"I just felt depressed, and that wasn’t like me. After 19 years of trying my hardest to score goals, here was one that I almost wished hadn’t actually gone in. I was inconsolable. I didn’t want it to happen.

How long did the feeling last? How long ago was the game? Thirty-odd years. There is your answer.

The subject always crops up. It’s one of those things. It’s always there and I am always remembered for it. That’s a shame.

I played with all those guys. They were pals. I didn’t want them down. It was the last thing in the world that I wanted. It didn’t feel good, no.

We weren’t friends on the field. We would kick each other. But once the whistle went and it was over things changed. There was a bar in those days so we would have a cup of tea or coffee or a beer and then we might meet up later. It was just normal in those days.

I was a bit different as I had been at both clubs and I knew guys who were still playing. I knew the trainers and the guys behind the scenes. As the years have gone on it has changed, I guess. "

1911-51

Nah mate they won the 2nd Division title in 1935-36

Tottenham Hotspur won the title in 1951 pal.

At least he was a professional to the end. Unlike Steve Bruce and this teams that amazingly roll over everytime they play United.

You should practice what you preach.

I do buddy. How apt that you should support a team of togs shitters, considering you shit your own togs before the marathon.
