on this date 73 years ago Mick Jagger was born.
Happy Birthday Mick & kids!
30 July 1966, fifty years ago today - England won the World Cup.
But did they really? Many say the Russian linesman won it
Today is the 50th anniversary of the first mass shooting in the US.
On this day in 1966, Charles Whitman climbed the clock tower on the University of Texas campus in Austin with a rifle shooting 46 people and killing 16, before being taken out by a police officer.
Today is the 31 july mate.

I don’t know why you’re marking this event Sid because they were utter dogshit that day. Prodigy were fucking great, maybe that would have been better commemorated?
From the RTÉ archives
I remember the structure for the turret being in place and access to the Fort being shut down for a while around it. Some of the actors stayed in Dunbrody Country House as well.
16 years ago, fuck me.
Surely more movies than that around there ? The only other one I remember is the ill fated Dick Dickman P.I.
Nope surprisingly enough.
I think there were some low budget one made around Loftus Hall but that’s all there’s been in the Fort.
Suffice to say that the County Council give the impression that they’d be happier if they Fort fell into the sea completely rather than try to develop it as a tourist attraction of some sort.
They could have a set up like http://dunree.pro.ie/home-html/ but with a longer range of history covered and more footfall over the summer. Instead they sent out an engineer just before the 2015 summer season was about to begin and he locked up the gates and said it wasn’t safe enough for entry. They, reluctantly agree to allwoing guided tours back into the Fort this summer but only on a trial basis until August 28.
Shockingly inept.
Would have been a different story if it was closer to Wexford town and Howlin granted it a few bob.
20 years ago today.
20 fucking years.
20 years ago a man with a tasche did the ymca dance?
Probably.
As the Wexford man sitting beside me said as the final whistle went - ‘they won’t be able to say anymore its 28 years since we won an All Ireland’.
