Only the 2022 National Hurling League? Only the Allianz 2022 National Hurling League

Big Papier mache head.

Cork are playing a football style of slow build up, working the ball across the middle, waiting for an opening. But its much easier turn over a ball in hurling and much easier to fuck up a pass.

It can be effective if the other team stands off you. But any team working hard will give them a hard time of it.

I honestly dont think Cork learned anything from the AIF. They seem to have decided that they just didnā€™t show up and are doubling down on the same as last year. Exact same weaknesses as last year from what I can see

Agree.

Collins woeful for 1st goal

They seem to be getting worse to me :person_shrugging:
Hard to fathom tbh, unless they are genuinely playing rope a dope, which is foolish in the extreme.
You either do a (hold my nose) Limerick on it, and genuinely just use the league to loosen up a bit, or you try to win every game and improve every game. Cork seem trapped.

They probably still donā€™t rate us.

Kingston their best forward last 2 years and he looking in from the line because his father doesnā€™t want to appear biased ffs

That disallowed Curran goal was absolutely awful from Collins again ffs

Waterford are the real deal lads.

On all known form they should be considered worthy favourites for the All Ireland and thatā€™s being 100% genuine.

Iā€™m being 100% genuine. Ye are a good bit better than last year and thereā€™s no evidence as of yet that weā€™re at the same level as we were last year.

There isnā€™t. Youā€™re hoping that Limerick will spark but itā€™s based on whatā€™s gone before and sometimes the well runs dry quicker than you imagine. Sometimes.

I dunnoā€¦Limerick will reshuffle the deck, Hayes back at 11 will give them a different dimension. Kiely and Kinnerck arenā€™t going to let a three in a row slip through their fingers too easy. Limerick still have to be favorites, they demolished all before them last year and have the same squad plus a few this yearā€¦the only thing that may catch them is hunger

Casey is a huge loss. Flanagan out now for 2 months. Hannon has been on the road a long time and WOD has a persistent shoulder injury he canā€™t shake offā€¦none of the younger lads have stepped up like weā€™d hoped. Waterford look like a train building momentum.

Of course not, but reshuffling the deck is in and of itself a desperate act in many ways

I think Waterford are a serious outfit, I really do. Iā€™m a big fan of Cahill & Bevans and they have been comfortably been the second best team in the country over the past two seasons. Not that thatā€™s much consolation really.

They havenā€™t been good enough to beat Limerick yet. Based on the league, itā€™s hard to know for sure whether theyā€™ve improved on last year or not but, in general, theyā€™re a coming team- nobody particularly old, adding options, getting fellas back from injury.

Are Limerick worse than last year? Again, hard to know for sure. We might be a little bit slow to get going but I think weā€™ll be fine once we do. But we are down Peter Casey & his natural replacement in Barry Murphy. But Mike Casey is back and Cathal Oā€™Neill will make an impact this year.

Itā€™ll be very interesting to see how Waterford set up against Limerick this year. Will they just try to do the same thing again, just better (and more sustained)? Thought they made a couple of tactical errors last year and Limerick defended against their goal threat absolutely brilliantly. If Limerick are any bit sluggish, Waterford will run through us. If weā€™re at the pitch of it, Iā€™d still just about fancy us. But Iā€™d rather have Cahill & Bevans trying to learn from previous year mistakes than Kingston & the Rock tbh.

I think Limerick have beaten Waterford by something like an average of ten points a game over the last five championship matches. And they are playing us in Limerick.

Four points will probably get you out of Munster - Iā€™d be happy with one win from the first two matches.

On the law of averages Waterford are due one over us. Could end up playing them 3 times in the championship and I donā€™t think either side would win all three of themā€¦

Iā€™d be happy enough finishing third and having a QF.
