Average teams do occasionally win All Irelands
Correct, Clare in 2013 and Tipp in 2016 for example
Tipp would have beaten Limerick in the 2014 final by a scoreline of about 2-25 to 1-22 Iād say. Limerick were notoriously hot and cold under TJ Ryan. Good performances against Limerick, Wexford and Kilkenny in 2014 but some fairly damp squibs against Tipp in 2015 and Dublin in the qualifiers the same year.
Physically yes, but it was never in his nature. Hard to remember back was there anyone of that ilk around the county at that time.
If there was, he wouldnāt make it anyway in Tipp as he couldnāt hit 0-6.
We dont do mullockers in Tipperary.
The Limerick lads used to rock up against Tipp with winter guts on them and send the Hall of Famers packing.
Unquestionably true, KK were past their peak post 2012 and the fact that the golden generation of Cooper snipers could only win 1 AI from 2013 - 2017 says it all.
We agree with you on this.
Youāre not really winding anyone up if thatās the angle youāre going for.
@Aristotle knows more on his baby finger than the cumulative knowledge of the Limerick/Munster rugby fanboys.
The week of the All Ireland and the Tipp obsession continues
The split season strikes again. What are we going to argue about the week after Christmas when our bellies are full of whiskey? Thereāll be nothing left
The Liverpool v Man U footix crew will be in full swing by then Mike. Donāt worry. Always plenty to argue about around here
Let em do a back to back and then we can talk about it.
The five in a row
True enough. But it was one of the great games and contests and occasions.
From memory, it felt as if KK were just looking for a spark to kick on in that game and when Coogan goaled, the result felt inevitable.
Tipp really struggled post Munster final. Offaly, Laois and then struggled over Antrim in the Quarter final.
I think I watched the 02 semi final on the hill with @SHANNONSIDER.
I remember coming through Urlingford and Johnstown that night on the way home and there were what felt like hundreds of Kilkenny young lads out waving flags and roaring at the Tipp cars going through.
There might even have been bonfires but maybe Iām exaggerating. As the August dusk descended, it felt like going through Galatasary or some place.
Were you born in 2002 mate? Thought you were leaving cert or first year of college?
The narrative before that game was that Tipperary had the Indian sign over Kilkenny in Croke Park, so there was much jubilation from Kilkenny supporters upon winning.
I believe it was the first time the usually (up to then) stoic and emotionless Brian Cody ran onto the field with arms aloft in celebration at the final whistle.
