OTB (Off The Ball)

There really is room for some type of podcast/media version of NOWTV where you pay a certain amount a month based on what you want.

Could also include regional writers and podcasts.

Not sure their quality is good enough. I don’t listen to rugby stuff, GAA is ok but as someone said available elsewhere. Horse racing plenty free elsewhere and soccer stuff I’ll stick with James Richardson and the Totally Football show. I’ll have otb in and out of the car, that’ll do me.

You’re last line is very pertinent to the success of this I feel. The boys are nearly overexposed as it is.

Will miss the Sunday Paper review and some of the GAA, esp Tommy Walsh. Can’t see it getting a big response at that price.

Big fat Mick McCarthy is the biggest irritant they have on the radio, I can’t stand him at all. The Phd fella sounds stoned half the time and Will O’Callaghan is harmless.

Will it still be on the radio?

In fairness it was unsustainable to be sending Kathleen McNamee over to Oz for two weeks covering the Womens World Cup.

Would it be possible for all rugby content across the board to be put behind a paywall ?

You know you can just not listen to it?

Yep

The42 has fallen off a cliff since it went behind a paywall. On the verge of deleting that app now.

I presume some of it will still be free to listen to? Often pops up on my social media and is a good watch/listen. I enjoy listening to the likes of James O’ Donoghue and Tommy Rooney. I’d say they’ll put that football podcast behind a paywall. Skehill and Murphy are decent on the hurling side of things too. Most of the soccer boys are fairly pretentious or ardent Spock believers. They could have put most of the women’s World Cup content behind a paywall and most listeners wouldn’t have batted an eyelid.

You’d have to wonder what’s the future of media at all. You can basically get all you need on TFK and free podcasts.

€5 on the examiner and Woolie is all anyone needs.

Paying to hear Woolie? Jaysus…

There’s more knowledge and debate on TFK than any of those podcasts. The likes of Gavin Cooney and Shane “Saint” would be eaten alive on here. Posters here actually watch club hurling too unlike Mark Landers. The majority were ahead of the curve here on Stephen Kenny being out of his depth while OTB tried to sugarcoat results.

I only ever listened to OTB from 7-9 on way back home from training on Newstalk. The football show is the most of what I got just after 9 maybe. Is that still going?

Putting the crappy quiz behind a paywall, the humanity!
