England won the World Cup in '66, buddy. Has about as much relevance now as Italy winning in it in '06.
Fact is, Italy were excellent at the 2008 Euros, 2012 Euros, 2016 Euros and 2021 Euros, and flopped in the following World Cup each time.
Your post was complete rubbish. You compared Italy to the Irish rugby team.
There is no comparisons.
It’s very like that time in the 00s when Kerry couldnt back up their All Ireland wins by beating Tyrone to win one.
Italy could not back up their Euros win by making a strong push for a World Cup.
This proves last years Euros to be of a very weak standard.

Fellas here actually think England can win the world cup. Laughable with a midfield 2 of Rice and Philips.

In Gaelic football parlance Italy would be the equivalent of a good league team who always flop come championship. Roscommon maybe.
Similarities there too to some of the perennial underachievers on the club scene. Ballymun Kickhams, Thurles Sarsfields, Breaffy.
On the whole it has still been a terrific week for Italian sport. Italy is rugby country now.

Ecuador and Uruguay joined Brazil and Argentina as automatic qualifiers from South America last night.
Uruguay qualified by beating Peru 1-0, Colombia broke their long goal drought by beating Bolivia 3-0, while Brazil predictably thumped their forever whipping boys Chile 4-0.
Only the play-off spot (which will probably be against Australia) remains up for grabs between three teams.
Peru 21 points GD -5
Colombia 20 points GD 0
Chile 19 points GD -5
Tuesday’s final round of fixtures is:
Peru v Paraguay
Venezuela v Colombia
Chile v Uruguay
Ecuador have a great record of getting to world cups
