I think they were left a lot to do after O’Donnell’s leg
That orange team, where they’re all called “Ned” coincidentally, were too good
Not a good first day of athletics for us. Not a good day at all.
Three European teams qualified out of the heat
Olympics Track and field is different level. It’s so so competitive.
And not a Ned Kelly amongst them
Four Ned Flanderses.
The Olympics is a different story to the European championship.
Completely.
The truth is the Europeans before an Olympics is basically a warm up event. The 2022 Europeans were a proper event alright.
If we could qualify for women’s 400m final without Rhasidat and she ran final we’d be competitive
Sonia making the point that six European teams made the mixed 400m final, they’re obviously much stronger this time out.
I presume that the Oirish awkward squad will use Adeleke’s decision to not compete in the moxed relay as some sort of stick to beat her with
The Stade de France is just iconic
It’s the only stadium to host a football World Cup final, a Rugby World Cup final and an Olympics.
As well as Euros, Champions League and Heino finals etc.
Despite all that it will never be iconic.
It’s a very unspecial venue.
An incredible venue.
The old Parc de Prince was iconic
Because of the running track Olympic stadiums in general, especially latterly, tend to be unspecial venues especially once the Games has departed.
The exceptions are the MCG which is a footy stadium, Munich because of the ICONIC roof, the Los Angeles Coliseum and Barcelona.
I’d have a bit of a soft spot for the rustic charm of Helsinki, the old Tokyo stadium and the now falling apart roof of Athens.
Rome has an ICONIC setting and has played host to some great nights for Irish soccer but it’s a shite stadium.
Mexico, a nothing stadium.
Montreal, like a Krispy Kreme drive through.
Moscow - nah
Seoul, a concrete bowl.
Atlanta, a utilitarian dump.
Sydney is highly unpopular.
Beijing a grotesque monument to totalitarianism.
London, crap.
Rio - worse.
Tokyo - the stadium that never existed.
17 year old Brit qualifying in the 800 metres…
Nah. That’s raw talent.
