It sounds like it. He may have. He would have been better off moving onto mainland Europe for freedom of movement purposes when the passports got harder to scam.

@Batigol travelling last week and forgot to take passport out of pocket. Missus put through the wash. Am travelling in 2 weeks to thailand
Would this still pass as acceptable? Do you think Siam Batigol would let it pass? Or do i need to get a new one?
I dont honestly know. I have only personally seen people have real issues if the bio-data page is damaged and yours seems to be ok.
I’d imagine if your airline will carry you, the Thais wont be too worried.
