We had years of Calling Mac threads for that purpose too
6 weeks it was for one of ours last summer. It had to be done by post, canāt remember was that due to us being up north or that they were born outside the island. They have a decent tracker once the process starts though.

The correct John calls the passport office, explains the error, but they canāt deal with himā¦as he doesnāt have my application number. I phone them and explain. Will they ring my witness again? Not a fucking chance. Imbeciles, drunk on the tiny bit of power being obtuse, gives them.

Thatās not even a barely acceptable excuse. I actually gave a personal number, which foes through to the office if the phone is off/not answered. Still, no harm, no foul. Just phone backā¦like an adult

My life partner was due to travel to Germany for work on Monday but she realised on Saturday afternoon that Iād made a massive faux pas (as they say in France). Yes, Iād neglected to check her passport in recent months &/or warned her it may have expired. She couldnāt believe Iād been so lax about things.
Anyway, she went online & booked the next available appointment to get an emergency passport appointment in the passport office. This was for Tuesday. In the meantime, she completed the form, got it signed by a Garda, got the photos etc.
Despite the Tuesday appointment, she rocked up first thing on Monday morning. They had several bays to accommodate the pre-booked appointments but one for walk ups. She was first to the walk up bay, told some sob story, provided all the info & they told her to come back at 2.30pm where they handed her a new passport.
She then fucked off to Germany for her work thing. What a service.

Itās obvious that the faux pas (as they say in France) was hers by allowing you to be the man in charge of passports 
I shudder to imagine my family life if I had those sorts of responsibilities
