FYI - aer Lingus donāt let you check in online or at the self service kiosk with a passport card. Youāve to join the massive queues for the check in desk. Michael OāLeary should be running the airline

I had fierce issues with passport control in Barcelona airport, the one with in the departure terminal. No idea why they do passport control after security in spain on the way to gates. Anyway, your man didnt know what he was looking at. I argued it was an eu document, he wanted the book which i told him i left in ireland. A supervisor sorted it.

Spain is in the schengen. They only check people leaving that, so flights to here, UK or the likes of Turkey. No need to check everyone as the majority would be flying to a fellow schengen country
