@Fagan_ODowd I see Aqua in Howth won some global award for being the best seafood restaurant. Although it sounds like a makey-uppy award. You eaten there?

Many times. Grand spot for a marquee meal due to its unparalleled setting. They do a nice sole on the bone.

Tescos have opened up a supermarket in the big apartment complex at the entrance to Howth Village. Not a bad shop (though it had a poor selection of dogfood). Hopefully it will encourage Super Valu to up their pretty tawdry game.

Although often referred to as a peninsula, I think Howth is more correctly a tombolo or tied island and thus a dubious case for inclusion on a peninsula thread.

I’d reckon Howth is a peninsula alright.

The neck of land joining Howth to the mainland could be termed a tombola alright but probably more correctly referred to as a isthmus.

I’m happy to have cleared that up for you after all these years of doubt.

I’m not sure mate. I’d be leaning heavily into the tombolo side of things. Pretty sure that land is sand. The little lady goes to school there and the teachers are flat out using it as their tombolo example in geography.
