Not really a great story but I copped he had become involved with Cork camogie early enough. He casually dropped in a few comments about being at league camogie games, saying the standard was very high and the strength and conditioning was much improved etc etc. I don’t think he explicitly said on here he was involved, until it became useful to cite in TFK arguments a year or two later. “I won an All Ireland, what did you ever achieve?” But he went through a phase of touting the Cork camogie management team for the Cork senior hurling management role. A gas man.

I remember way before that, when he was first talking about his coaching ambitions, I said to him that he was very dismissive of other opinions at times, being strong minded and confident in your view was good etc etc. But to get buy in from players in this day and age that it might be no harm to be open minded, canvas opinion and accept feedback. He told me to fuck off and that he couldn’t help being right all the time.

The best thing about him being involved with Cork Camogie was when they won the All Ireland and the captain was accepting the cup she thanked the S&C coach and named a completely different Kevin.

Well I don’t think (m)any people would dispute that. It’s more his arrogant and complete dismissal of any activity that doesn’t replicate match conditions or use a constraints led approach. If you follow his reasoning then nobody would ever go to a pitch, court, driving range or whatever and practice on their own.

but that would make sense and not have any discussion. To say that there is absolutely no benefit at all from hitting a ball off a wall and practicing first touch is what he actually said. Not that doing it in game condition would improve your touch more, which I dont think anyone would disagree with, but he also wouldnt have had memes made about him if he said something that made sense.

He said first touch doesn’t improve hitting a ball off a wall. He made the exact same point on here before.

It’s essentially saying there’s no way of improving first touch outside a training session which is nonsense

Its a choice to be offended. I worked with Downs Syndrome (and other disabilities) most of my adult life. I never make them feel bad about themselves. I grew up next door to a Downs girl. And i lived them all.
