The wren as it was is dead since 20 years or more. It’s true the tinkerer have taken it.
It was a staple of my 70s ands 80 memories. Any proper musician would have gottet involved. Plenty of flat bed parades down the street also loaded with bales and fiddlers and that.
I have cousii who are handy with the box and the fiddle and can make 500 in a few hours round the pubs for charity but apart from that a d a few more it’s gone, like almost all else from rural Ireland that has almost turned fully into soulless urban Ireland which is a crying shame.
