the better way is, and only other suggestion, breastfeeding. For all the advice and knowledge out there, the only options seemingly is either to breastfeed, or to use forumla. Now, I dont know if you are moving forward with the age bracket of the child, as you also mentioned food in the post, but formula wouldnt be used for that long in any case and in general, we are talking about babies from birth to maybe 12 months or so.
I genuinely havent heard of any alternatives to breast milk other than formula. Call me a heathen or whatever, I dont mind, but weâre all here to be educated I suppose! Goats milk is not an alternative for breast milk in a child under 6 months, and probably not even 12 months. Fennel tea is not a replacement either, more of a natural remedy for colic.
A very quick google for alternatives to breast milk gives up results as either formula, or buying other womens breast milk. Iâm not sure what the other âbetter waysâ are, but wouldnt mind knowing, knowledge is power and all that and sure I could try out new things on Jnr2 when they arrive and we can do a TFK test on them!
Fennel tea seemed to work for any baby pain. It seemed to be the answer to nearly everything, including teething. It didnât stop crying completely, but I witnessed it (as in I fed the child) have a pretty good affect.
Another kid a friend had (not, but Iâll explain) was adopted from the states. The adopting parents met the mother and were actually at the birth. They froze breast milk and brought it to Ireland! They diluted it and it last a while. Every little helps I suppose.

yeah but Fennel tea isnt a replacement for milk though, which is what the original impilication was. Iâve no doubt its fine, but its not a replacement for milk nor a replacement to formula.
Freezing breast milk, and that google search I did showed that actually buying breast milk from other women online is now a new thing to be done. Again, dont think I would do either, but as I said, I have still to see anyone put forward a credible alternative to breast milk other than formula. Getting as much breast milk is obviously advised and should be done as much as possible, but sometimes it just isnt possible for some.

This is exactly why I said earlier that itâs abundantly clear by now that Kev got the wrong end of the stick on the goatâs milk thing and was clearly told about it as a possibility for an older child. However he has since rejected that out of hand and is acccusing everyone else of living in the dark.
ffs, are you off your rocker ?
what age did you start this crack, kev will be around with his holistic medical team, he will beat the shit out of you while the rest of them make fennel and goats milk bottles and berate your wife about her failure as a woman
but if someone is up at 3am boiling water, steralising bottles, and mixing some formula for their one month old child who wont settle, then Iâm not going to call them lazy, or think they are doing things wrong. it may be seen as a means to an end, and as I said, if forumla is the worst thing to be doing, then so be it.

no need to do the boiling at all. if you sterilised the bottles pour in the right amount of boiled water you can skip the boiling while the child roars. there is a little container we had with three compoartments in it that we had the formula measured into which worked great. just put the formula into the room temperature bottle shake the hell out of it and feed
five minutes rather than ten to fifteen

I never said fennel tea was used to replace breast milk, never. I said it was used as part of an alternative. There is little or no protein in fennell anyway.

ah yeah I know that, but sure you have to boil it sometime, whether its then or earlier, whatever. everyone finds their own ways of doing things quicker/easier.
fair enough, fennel could be part of an alternative, I didnt think it could ever be thought of as a full nutrient replacement. it would be good as a natural way to relieve babies I imagine. am still wondering what the main alternative is to breast feeding or formula?

kev neednât worry⌠i get the little one to do a few dips in the cot to burn the excess fat in the cerealsâŚI mean who wants a fat baby??..
Goats milk watered down. There was also some other juice of a nut put in there. Iâve sent a FB message looking for a more accurate answer. From memory this was used when the breast milk ran out, which was certainly early on. Last I heard the kid has hardly had a cold, but that was back a bit. To answer the question for fathers here I sent the message.
A lot of posters are getting very defensive here. @caoimhaoin is only debating the potential merits of alternative ways of doing things. Get off your high horses, you lazy bastards.
