Pick your 3 top gaa games of 2015

Dublin vs Mayo - First Match
Dublin vs Mayo - Second Match
Westmeath vs Meath - Love seeing the royals get beaten.

Great thread @Joe_Player.

Unfortunately I only got to see 3 Monaghan games this year and none of them were very good.

As such, I will be spoiling :hankey: my vote.

have stopped enforcing rules of hurling apart from Barry Kelly which isn’t helping

Definitely time to look at getting rid of the Leagues now - if you think Championship was bad some of the league games particularly football this year were just brutal

What would you replace the league with?

There are a number of reasons why league games are shit, teams experimenting with new tactics, trying out of new players, shit weather, shit pitches and also the training the teams are doing during the league is a lot tougher than what they would be doing during the championship.

That’s a myth and i hear other people saying it was a bad summer weather wise too. It wasn’t. It was a great summer in terms of not much rain fell in comparison to usual. Sun didn’t shine much which has seeped into peoples subconsciousness into thinking it was a bad summer.

Yes but limerick perform best in blistering hot weather.

I think the phrase is “sweltering heat”.

Would have beaten Kilkenny last year if it wasn’t for the rain that day

Teams now, the big teams at least, just target 2 to 3 games in the league to survive the drop and train thru it.

The whole thing needs to be stripped back and started again.

They actually need to create a committee (I know I know) and give them 3 years to completely overhaul gaa within 5 years. From top to bottom.

Refereeing is bananas now, and it’s not entirely all the refs fault either.

There are no shit pitches now, that’s a falacy.

Kilkenny were hoping for a wet day to drag us down to their level

There are in comparison to Croke Park.

thought the hurling was boring and predictable, was at Galway Tipp and that was decent

Kerry Tyrone was a brilliant game as was Kildare and Laois
Donegal Monaghan and Donegal Derry were very entertaining i thought as a winner couldnt be called
the rest of it was pretty shite with a honourable mention to Cork and Kerry maybe first day out

awful hurling year, the Munster final was as depressing as its gets really

It didn’t work in 73 though!!!

It was KKs ability to close out a game that was the difference.

Start the leagues two weeks earlier. Cut a week off the length of time it takes to run them. That way, instead of having the football league final on April 26th as it was this year, you could have it on April 5th, the hurling on April 12th.

Cut three weeks off the length of time it takes to run the provincial championships. Extra-time in all provincial matches.

That’s six extra weeks in the year to play around with in terms of club fixtures.

It doesn’t matter how good a pitch is, it is still going to be shit if it has been rained on for a week in the middle of Janauary/February. The drainage may be good but it is still going to be soft under foot and it is going to nowhere near as firm as it would be come championship time of year.

My uncle, God rest him, had a sliothar from the '73 game in his possession. It got rolled out at his wake there during the summer. It was his pride and joy. Worth a few quid I’d say.

Games I attended:

  1. Dublin v Mayo (replay)
  2. Monaghan v Donegal
  3. Wexford v Down
