Portugal v ROI- WCQ 2022

It’s time me for Phillipe Troussier to get his shot.

Hughton is a decent manager .

For some reason the NFFC job seems to be a poisoned chalice for all takers

Only if he could Troussier a few million from Denis O Brien

Bottom of the table with Nottingham Forrest.

What absolute rubbish. Contrast last night’s game to our last big away game with fans v Switzerland where we did’nt raise a gallop. Night and day. Not Kenny’s fault most of the team are not playing at club level.

I think Ogbene was a big loss last night. Would have been an excellent sub to bring on with 20 minutes to go.

He had ample breaks in play in that time period to be ready to go. It was a major mistake from Spock & his management team.

There were a couple of frees and throw ins in that time frame. It was atrocious game management.

If McClean is our best sub we were lucky a few more were’nt brought on.

Contrast me hole.

The team performed admirably and fought extremely well.

The management fudged it by lack of guile or just plain inexperience. That is unquestionable.

Regardless, if Portugal had taken their earlier chances this wouldn’t even be a discussion.

You were whinging last night that the ref rode us and Ronaldo shouldn’t have been on the field ffs.

Commentary last night suggested officials didn’t accept his subs or delayed them. Again, it’s really one eyed commentary from you. A really young team put in a really creditable performance against much higher ranked opposition, came off the wrong side of quite a few marginal ref calls and were genuinely unlucky to lose. And you blame the manager for the loss. He deserves credit for a smashing performance that showed serious promise.

You don"t remember the Switzerland away performance? Stick to your agenda.

Ronaldo should have been on the field. Never a red.

It’s you mate who is not looking at the situation properly. Taking Ronnie & Darragh’s opinion as gospel when they are commentating on live action.

Management had 6 minutes to make a change. The fact that they made two at the same time also points to it being rushed and panicked.

It was extremely poor game management, hopefully they learn from it. If Portugal were 1 nil up with 6 mins to go & do you really believe they would have taken 6 minutes to make a change ( disrupt game flow ) ?

I have not blamed the players for the result either so I can’t understand your point there.

Spock needed fresh legs on sooner.

I’ve said it before

The difference between the top international sides and the majority of the rest is someone who can put the ball in the goals and a top, top goalkeeper, all the rest kind of nullifies each other out as teams are generally negative and can set up with quality to kill space.

Ronaldo didn’t do a stroke last night. 2 chances and he murdered us.

And you had pundits and commentators ridiculing the greatest goal scorer alive, while we had Spud fucking Connolly butchering chances all over the shop.

Lads who can score will always be gold dust.

Jamie McGrath is an interesting player. Wigan were only club to bid for him this summer. Surely can play at a higher level than St Mirren.

And to think some lads on here used to give Robbie Keane a hard time. I bet they’re feeling pretty sheepish now.
