Cunting civil servants have escaped for the most part. Site tax and water rates on the way as well.
Well are they not going to have massive job losses instead? i’d rather keep my job for less money.
Site tax is a joke why don’t they just put on a property tax now, it’s at the stage where the croke park deal is as irrelevant as this four year plan, the government is irrelevant, anything can happen we are not financially stable and we aren’t politically stable
Lenihan refused to deal with the bank bailout interest, rendering the rest of the press conference largely irrelevant. Ridiculous stuff.
There will be no incentive to work for min wage earners. You’ll be on €306 a week and will be taxed and PRSI’d on that. While you get €200 on the scratcher. Basically you’re working for less than €2.50 an hour… Unless dole is cut significantly it can’t work.
Vincent Browne questioned him on the ability to met the future debt repayments in relation to the bailout. he said that was a question for a different press conference.
There was a proviso of sorts about the CP agreement, I can see the new govt filleting it.
This could be the way forward. The fewer people who understand the better.
That fucking Green Cunt Gormley. Spent his portion of the speech basically boasting about the Green parties achievements. We have the whole world watching and they put that spoon on the TV
Ya, I’ve read the leaflet and can find no concrete mention of a cut in the dole.
A recruiter was tellling me the other day there are business out there who can’t fill semi skilled minimum wage jobs already because it isn’t worth peoples while to go off the dole.
Full plan is here - http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1124/plan.pdf
There’s a property tax also being introduced but they’re calling it a “Site Value Tax”.
I also love this part of it
The Government revised the vehicle registration tax and motor tax systems on cars to be based on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle, rather than on engine size, with effect from 1 July 2008. This change has been highly successful in encouraging people to purchase lower emissions cars. However, the change in purchasing patterns, combined with other factors, is having an impact on revenue yields, especially in the case of motor tax over the medium term.
During the Plan the current CO2 bands and rates structures will be examined in the light of the overall reductions in CO2 emission levels being made by car manufacturers and the standards set internationally with a view to adjusting the bands in line with technological advances on 1 January 2013.
So basically, we tried to encourage you all to buy lower emission cars. Because you did exactly what we wanted we’re now going to screw you for more money.
They’ll never get this water meter thing to work. I live on a lane which has a central water pipe. If you turn off the water to one house you turn it off to all of them. How they go to regulate which house is using which water?
You can hardly get a low paid worker to work more than three days a week these days. Two days on the ‘jam roll’ and keeps the benefits.
Yeah, god forbid we might look stupid in the world’s media
The main thing from that press conference is that Cowen and Lenihan are still living in a fantasy, or perhaps have wandered even further into it.
There must be a feed off the pipe into your house.
They will put a valve and meter on that feed.
Gormley reminded me of that guy in Father Ted when they were on the plane and had a competition for the only parachute. “I think I should get the parachute because I’m great”. Complete prick.
siemens have offered to install the meters that they use in many european countries-
its piss easy to do & is the right thing to do & i think the brains in siemens have come across issues like yours before & it isnt insurmountable
you do realise that man has landed on the moon before? if so why do you think that the problem of your water pipe isnt that tough?
Do you believe everything the man tells you?
Water metering would be redundant if they repaired all the leaky pipes in the country.
I’m not a plumber so maybe ye can tell me, would each apartment in a block have an individual feed?
This will cripple hotels and such will it not?

[/quote] ah well blueboy. im sure you will find some way of alleviating your frustration about this, most likely BTK
FFS
Doubt the labour party would allow that. The only hope of a filleting is if there was a a FG only government
