Gavin (Gavan) Duffy was on Morning Ireland this morning. Got hammered over supporting hunting and refused to say it should be banned. A few blows landed on him but not as bad as last day.
Then the lady interviewing him asks him “who is your favourite poet”. He noted it an unusual question before saying Emily Dickinson. Then asked his favourite Irish poet and he said Seamus Heaney. Interviewer mentioned arts culture and heritage crucial to role of president. Duffy rebounded with a mention of his love and support of opera.
Frankly bizarre interview like you might get in an oral Irish exam or a transition year mock interview.
Will they also Michael D who is favourite Galway hurler is. Will they fuck. No love for Duffy, he is out of his depth but the line of questioning from RTE seemed particularly designed to catch him out. There must be some bad blood there from something or other. Or maybe he is regarded as a cunt.
