Social distancing simply wonât work in any environment outside of the almost complete lock down we have at the minute.
Its pretty much unmanageable with sports teams, gyms, buses, luas, trains, offices, canteens, schools and universities.

Macron was on French TV tonight saying they are hoping to open the country up a bit again in mid May and that some festivals might even take place from mid July. Notably he said nothing about bars and restaurants though.
Playgrounds and school breaks will have to be abolished
Cafes & restaurants to the French are what pubs are to the Irish, if they are permitting gatherings at festivals then bars & restaurants are a given.
Exactly, Macron didnât mention the sky was blue either
Thereâs 1,000 students in some community schools. Social distancing is a non runner.
Imagine college campuses and student accommodation trying to implement measures.
He may aswell have not mentioned he had a croissant for breakfast ffs.
Weâll have to abolish having children altogether if this continues for much longer
Craig Doyle will be eliminated.
I donât know who that is but yes, Iâd say so. Everything must go
How far into the future do you think having a license to have a child is as common as having one for driving a car? The Chinese will of course be the first to implement it.
Itâs a new reality. Everything we think we know is wrong. Nothing is off the table. Itâs time to be docile and leave our senses behind otherwise what chance do we have
Is this chap still the co-owner of a pub in Abbeyfeale?
They are discussing having some of the kids in on different days to allow social distancing.
If your strictly adhering to two metres youâd hardly fit 10 in a classroom at any one time and with class sizes averaging about 30 these days, theyâll have a logistical nightmare sorting out a timetable there.
I voted No. On mature reflection Iâd likely go to the hidden gem with the nice Guinness and order 2 pints. Iâd drink one on the walk home and have the other when I got home. Both out of my own glasses.
Really tough time for anyone renting a pub. The fella renting my local does a really good job and I feel for him. Many owners had it before him and couldnât get the punters in as good as he does, but he looks after folk dropping regulars home and putting on live music often enough. He has kids to feed at home and not sure if the wife works. The fellas who own their own pubs where it was passed down from their father are undoubtedly in a better position. These lads with rental costs it has to be scary and I think a lot will go under. It is extremely difficult to the see pubs reopen this side of the August bank holiday at least. How do you enforce social distancing in pubs. This could go on months for them while broader society has reopened, every week they are not open is huge.
Even if they only allow clothes shops and book shops reopen, God help them trying to maintain social distancing in places like The Crescent in Limerick or Dundrum Shopping Centre.
Going to have to roll the dice at some stage I suppose.
Very salient point there, prolly too nuanced for most posters on here. Not just pubs but any business passed down from mammy or daddy have it good before this virus and after. Those paying rent, trying to establish a business, whatever it may be, were up against it before and are even more up against it now.
That question may as well read âAre you an alcoholic?â.
