I got the dreaded call at 7:30am on Monday, after a feed of pints for the euros
“There’s a funny noise coming from the server room”
what was it?
An alarm for a failing raid controller on a server hosting some critical VMs.
A very stressful 24 hours followed.

So it was a physical sound alarm but no messaging?
You rang Fitzpatrick’s and poor auld Tommy Pratt had to dayle with it.

Ya servers will give an audible alarm when there’s critical parts failing, there’s a mgmt portal then where you can get the specifics .
But no messaging to the it administrator?
alerting is the term you’re looking for
and the person listening for the beep noises outside the server room fulfilled the role

I’ve seen lads and their only job all day was to watch a pressure gauge.
@Copper_pipe , this new three box for 30 notes a month. Is it a runner long term? A friend of the wife is away all weekend and gave us a lend of it to try. Haven’t had any issues so far
