Question for the techies

We had something similar ourselves a number of years ago (I think it was a phono plug-in) and it was fair annoying alright. But we’re moving onto a different generation now.

Nah their voice will only come out on speakers if you connect to them with an aux cable.

@Copper_pipe I’m setting up a laptop for the young lady, will I use my own email or is there kids ones linked to mine?

I set one up myself yesterday and had similar questions. One thing I’ll say is try and get it right first as it’s tricky enough to go back and re-do it again.

I’d sign up an adult as the administrator and then set herself up with a separate user login. There’s lots of options as you go through it. You’ll have to suck it and see depending on the age of the child.

Log all your emails and passwords on paper.

How can I go about getting the Grinch with Jim Carey? Its not on netflix, prime or disney and it’s the one movie the kids are looking for , is there someplace online I could download it or something? I have a firestick but my internet is fairly poor

Download flud BitTorrent on your phone. Go to The Pirate Bay – Download movies, music, games and software! and download it from there. Would be beneficial to have a VPN whilst at this craic.

All of the above is illegal of course, I don’t endorse it, I just know this is how some bad people download stuff.

VPN not necessary

qBittorrent is the only clean one out there at the moment. So I’d go with that if need be.

A big prick, PB Ahern

I had 2 new Sky Q boxes installed today, replacing older Sky HD boxes.

I’ve a load of old matches and stuff saved to one of them. Can these be retrieved?

We were told that all that stuff would be gone, but we never looked into it too deep,

The installation guy said the hard drive can be removed and then downloaded to USB storage but didn’t sound too convinced and he was a dinger in sorting everything else out.

Sounds like a job for @Copper_pipe

I’m open to correction here…

I think if you remove the drive and copy the contents (.ts files) to a USB stick, the new boxes will play them.

Anything unencrypted recorded in .ts format should play through VLC or similar an a pc/laptop/iptv box etc.

Subscription channel content will be encrypted and won’t play in anything other than a sky box with a valid subscription, which is why your new box should play them.

You could record straight to dvd if you had that facility. Pain in the arse though.
