I just thought E.T. and Alf were two of the dumbest cunts ever to come from yonder
Indutably
Anyone know if internet companies use different cabling to the house or is it shared depending on who has the contract?
Internet dropping out like mad a while now. They’ve replaced cable outside, inside, router etc. They’ve adjusted settings every which way. But still dropping
Everything inside replaced, some more than once. Im certain it’s an issue beyond the front door. Wonder is it just going to be same issues, different company if I swap from Virgin?
Pretty much all the same if it’s standard DSL broadband (i.e. not Fibre).
We’ll need more info about your provider, setup and your area Lionel…
depends how far you are from the nearest cabinet, if it is not fibre to the door.
Is it Wi-FI that is dropping?
Virgin Medias fastest offering with their dual band router. No phone or TV running off it, just devices. City estate
Holds the connection but no internet. Can spot on my phone easiest as swaps WiFi still connected but shows swapping to 4G connection.
Virgin own their own infrastructure.
Nearly everyone else (eir, sky, voda) will be running off Eirs infrastructure.
Do you have any neighbours with the same Virgin product as a comparison?
Yeah and they said have experienced similar. So virgin came out, took up brickwork to replace cable, that ran half the length of the road.
They’ve really tried solve it, admirable how much they’ve tried. So I’m reluctant to swap if I’m only going to have same issue with someone else
Unlikely with totally different infrastructure.
First I’m learning of that so appears the chop is imminent.
I think you’re Limerick so I assume Virgin use coaxial coming into the house. All the others use optical cable, it’s just a case of how they get it in. So it’s a completely different system and worth a change.
I find Vodafone here in Caherdavin good. Comes in off the power lines so they’ll be a bit of drilling and banging.
It’s possible that there’s some environmental factor impacting the signal that could also impact Eirs infrastructure. Unlikely is a fair description though.
I’m from Limerick but living in Dublin
Spoilt for choice so.
Have look at the Eir map. As @EstebanSexface suggests, distance to the nearest cabinet (connection point) is important. In Dublin you should be very well served.
Thanks gentleman, appreciated.
Vodafone are sending me a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds* for free for my loyalty. I thought there would be a catch but seemingly not. They are winging their way to me as we speak.
*anybody who knows we will know I won’t get much use out of them, but hard to refuse the offer. Make a nice present for somebody.
