So someone who has smoked 30-40 years just say even 20 cigarettes a day gets cancer at say 52 years of age, they wont have covered their costs through tax already? Get a calculator.

X 40 years smoking (il round it up it wont matter) 160k in taxes

If you were getting chemo for a year it would cost 50-100k for the drugs alone before you get into the cost of keeping you in hospital, paying the medics etc.

You’re tax contribution would be wiped out in 12 months handy. Thats before you take into account any sick benefit or god forbid it takes 3 or 4 years to cure you

The wife never smoked and she’s been on chemo tabs every day since. They’re 150 per tablet so it’s 273k before you count the cost of the operation, the days in the HDU or the consultants.

All good, cheers but she’ll be on those pills for another 2 years. The doc has to decide next month whether or not she goes back to work after 5 years out. She’s in IT in her place. I think they were on Windows NT when she went out, it’ll be some culture shock if she goes back
