Impossible for two decades at least. No point sitting on hands til then. I think controlling types sold and increasing wait times and training could be brought in overnight
Guns = votes regardless
The fact that aborigines weren’t considered people, counted in the census or allowed voting or rights until the late 60s still leaves a lasting legacy. The antics of the government with taking children, the stolen generation, went into the 70s. It’s no wonder it’s such a racist hole now.
What about racism in ireland lads . Care to touch on it . ? Easy to throw stones in the Atlantic at targets 6000 miles away . Brave men .
Shur aren’t we the best little country in the world. No such thing as racism in this country
Read what you actually posted, not once but twice. You specifically talked about countries where only criminals have guns, and suggested why that would not work in the US, or are you going to deny having said it?
The 2nd amendment was written in the 18th century when muskets were the weapons of choice and not AR 15 assault rifles or AK 47s. Some parts of it are very anarchonistic. There is nearly 1 gun for every US citizen and that wont change anytime soon.
I dont think they could have a referendum on the 2nd amendment in the US and repeal it. The closest thing they have is a constitutional convention and then it would have to pass the house and Senate. Any Congressman or woman who voted to ban guns would lose their seat. There is no willingness amongst the general population for to eradicate gun culture. When there is a shooting spree it is always “thoughts and prayers” with mental health being the primary cause. Its burying your head in the sand stuff but it would be career suicide for any elected official to illegalise guns. I cant think of 1 US state where it would pass. The conversation will always be about relaxation or strengthening laws around gun control but will never be about a prohibition.
She has a history of dismissing racism though, again her point being that racism creates the divide, so just ignore that and treat everyone the same. It’s an admirable concept, however from her perspective, it just fuels the right to say there are no issues and everyone should just get over it.
Nope, I would ban all assault weapons, semis , etc. and have much stricter background checks.
Ok. Can’t go back in time, so can it ever be got past? do reparations lead the way to a blank slate?
I’ve no interest in doing this with you, you make up what you imagine I said, argue whatever suits you and then call me a moron, now have the last word
I’ve put this up before but it’s as close to common sense as I can see
Are you willing to accept the higher risk of getting blasted as a consequence of your right to bear arms?
No to racism.
Hard to know. It’s fucked up really. Back to Price, she disagreed with the state apology, not sure why. But it will take decades to fix. You only have to read social media now over the latest abuse to Eddie Betts to see how shit people still consider aboriginals there. The Goodes doco makes a good point on that. They’ll tolerate aboriginals and accept them, but once they step up or start going above their station, then problems start.
It’s absolutely not innate, as why do many African American do so well in the same society? Proportionately speaking the % of middle class black Americans is not that different to other races. There are 22% of African Americans in poverty, Hispanics are not far behind at 19%.
The issue I think is mainly to do with completely failed inner city public policies, which actually do more to keep people (of all races) in poverty than help them out of poverty. Blacks suffer more in this regard than other races, some of that is due to racism no doubt, a lot of it is due to corruption by public officials that are supposed to represent them.
Not one of them are friends with any black people then . Never heard anyone fo on about their friends struggles with their colour. Pretend
You can’t even defend what you clearly said, away with you.
The right to bear arms was here long before I came here and will be here long after I leave. Two thirds of Americans believe in the right to bear arms. It is possible to also believe in sensible gun control, they are not mutually exclusive.
That’s not the question I asked you. Are you willing to accept the risk of getting blasted for your right to bear arms ?
