Racism Continued

Sky News doc starting now

The problem is that it is too big an industry and wields to much influence in the corridors of power. Even if there was political will, they’d run smear campaigns and pump money into a candidate who is anti gun control.

Life is cheap in America.

Yup, especially black life

Because they believe it’s a bulwark against government aggression. It was written with fears of the Brits invading, today a lot of its supporters fear their own federal government. They are a minor ity but sizeable.

But the wording of the 2A already allows a fix. Well regulated militia. Have extensive training before licenses given. Restrict or regulate automatic weapons and similar. It’s an intrinsic part of culture for many there though. It wasn’t in NZ.

Would you grow up ffs.

You don’t understand the culture

It was their culture to regard black people as three fifths of a person. It was their culture to keep slaves. You could probably marry an 11 year old in 1787 also…culture changes and moves on. There’s vested interests through the gun lobby for a long time in the states… that’s the real culture.

Cultures chage. After years of being kneed on the neck Galway hurlers broke through the Big 3 in the 80’s and BLM are doing likewise in the USA now

The fucking irony of this statement. You only believe in two points regarding this debate, Racism and Trump. Do you think there are any cultural issues within the American black community that could be lead to intergenerational poverty or is that too inconvenient to look into?

I’m talking about their culture today. You are suggesting banning guns when more people than ever have just bought guns. 4 million background checks for purchases in one month. In march 2020 not 1780. So banning is impossible, so it’s pointless wishing that was the case. So what might work?

Name them so

Just on another point, I know you posted a few times that video of Jacinta Price who more or less says that aborigines should worry about their own issues with crime and domestic abuse and not racism. She is overtly controversial, she is regularly on sky news, which is very much the fox equivalent and very right wing and she is often quoted and commended by Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party. She also has been racist herself to Asians. She aligns herself with Andrew Bolt, if you saw the Adam Goodes documentary I put up, you’d know how racist he is. She has been publicly not welcome by aboriginal communities on her speaking tour. I understand where she is coming from, the case of saying you are equal so let’s treat everyone equal. However it only goes so far. She is just one aboriginal who sets her opinion and politics in that manner, but she very much does not speak for all aboriginals.

If you haven’t seen the Adam Goodes documentary, I’d recommend a watch. He speaks about Invasion day and all the issues he faces daily. Just because one aboriginal goes against the grain doesn’t mean all their issues and problems should be ignored.

As I say, I understand her point, but the racism that still exists in Australia and the hardship that aboriginals face is a major issue. Absolutely they have their own internal issues that need to be resolved, but the fact they are treated so bad goes a long way to explain their deep rooted issues.

BLM established by 3 women

You wouldn’t believe me, so here’s a black fella outlining a few of them.

Take note of the outcome difference for west indian people Vs other blacks in America, a country you believe to have vast systemic racism and should view them the same.

Same as any people who were subjugated anywhere in the world. Refuse them education, generate a dependence on substances, break their moral will with lack of opportunities. Rinse and repeat. The very fabric of the community is ripped out.

I only posted it a few times at it wouldn’t play. I don’t think she was as callous as dismissing racism wholesale, just calling out the virtue signalling but it was clear that the presenter and her had a slightly biased viewpoint. I don’t know enough about aboriginal culture to be honest to comment. Who would be worth reading or watching? Pilger? Have you a link for the Goode’s doc? I was in Sydney for a lot of the 2005 season when him and Barry hall were lording it

First of all, you stop selling them. You outlaw them and set very tough sentencing for anyone caught with them…You roll out a programme to get people to hand them in … It won’t be easy and yes a large number will stay in circulation but year on year the price of them will go up and up… Ordinary fucks won’t get their hands on them… Eventually they’ll only be in the hands of a certain element, same in any country… It isn’t a quick fix, far from it, but if they wanna live in a semi decent society they have to eradicate guns and gun culture.

How realistic do you think that a bill banning them will ever be introduced?

It would take a monumental effort…
