Random Questions About Ireland

The neighbour charges his car inside in the city centre every Sunday as he says it’s cheaper than charging it at home. Is that possible?

It would be a good two hour walk for him in and out. Or the daughter drives him. If true it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Does it @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy?

The country is full of hungry, miserable bastards like that fella.

Maybe it is but it cant be enough to do that, he should charge it at a night rate

We all know overall that the smart metres are a ripoff, as does he. But when I started asking the hard questions he muddled his answers.

I suppose he’s a small minority but these are the things I just can’t fathom.

It’s like the day I went to the scrap yard for a small window. Yer man was looking for €70. I said they’re only €50 new in the main dealer. He said take it or leave it. Lazy culture.

Is the smart meter tariff really more expensive?

Well, you need to be smart to beat it. But for the average household the bill is proven to go up.

You need to start putting on your dishwasher and washing machine after 11pm. Not cooking dinner between 5-7pm. Working from home would be a disaster I’d imagine.

No, if you use devices at the right time its cheaper

Like ateing the dinner before 8am.

11pm for charging the car for example

The night rate for electricity starts at 23:00 until 08:00 the following morning with Energia’s peak times ranging from 17:00 to 19:00.

If you’ve stay up until 11pm you’ll be using more electricity. There’s no value in the smart meter rates at the moment.
