Trying to think there I must have been at 50 weddings and I can’t really remember any outstanding meal and only a couple of bad ones. From some reason I remember very little about most weddings.

I thought as much when I started the thread. I was also worried about being mocked by the forums so called hard men.

Bunratty castle. My worst by far. Inedible beef that produced saw dust when touched with the steak knife.

A little off the beaten track, and quite small, but the Castle Oaks in Castleconnell has outstanding wedding fare.

Brother got married there a while back. Very nice, was pleasantly surprised as I hadn’t really heard of it much before that.

Bunratty getting a bad rep food wise, I can’t disagree because I haven’t ate there but a friend of mine is getting married there soon. It would ruin my wedding if the food served out to the guests was inedible slop. And it would drive me fucking livid knowing I was forking out thousands for same. That’s why I won’t have a big traditional wedding. You’d want your head examined doing that.

Armada Hotel - Spanish point
Tulfarris Hotel & golf club

I’m sorry to hear that. I was at a wedding there in 2009 and it was top notch. Has it changed hands?

Sorry about what? I haven’t been there and I’m not getting married so don’t worry about it. It was getting bad reports above.

No offence but you strike me that you’d be happy with a bit of heated up burnt roast beef as long as theres enough mash and gravy on the plate, and a bit of trifle and custard afterwards.

First class meal in Castle Durrow last Saturday followed by very average in the mill house slane on Sunday.

Anyone here been married abroad and were they happy with it? You get a far better class of service abroad IMO

Great venue but the food was only okay
