RAVENOUS (Part 1)

I don’t think boiling anything ever makes it nicer

Don’t like it myself. Alright in a curry. That’s about it

A full chicken?
The only reason to boil or poach a chicken is to make the classic cure all chicken soup beloved of the Jewish community in the US (Jewish Penicillin), make sure to remove the breasts before the brown meat as they’ll turn to rubber, more trouble than its worth because the meat won’t be at its best but the broth can be good if you get the flavors right

Lovely job on the Jambons @TreatyStones

I’m going to try Portuguese custard tarts later on (pastel de nata)

Sweet Jaysus, is that before or after he ate it?

Have the base of the Beef and Beamish pie gone in the oven there. Three hours at 160 and then I’ll put the pastry top on it at 7. I had a sneaky half glass of Beamish while I was at it.

I’ve just bought puff pastry with the intention of making the same thing. Cheers for the recipe :+1:

I had pancakes with maple syrup, nutella, custard and berries as a treat after my run earlier.

I was delighted with how the pancakes turned out. I got them just right.

A nice treat after a 15 mile run

Be careful of overtraining when you have no goal race. That’s a very long run at this time of the week.

A wise man once told me that anything over 40 mins during the week and you’ll do damage to yourself. Either take it nice and steady for that time or do some speed work.

The missus is a shift worker and is covering a lot of leave at the moment, there’s no such thing as a weekend, I take the chance to go long when I can, 15 miles wouldn’t take a tap out of me anyway :grinning:

What pace were you going in miles? How many runs over 10miles do you do per week?

You’re going to give out to me now
Today I ran at an average of 5:12 per K.
At the moment I’d probably do two longish runs a week, over 10 miles,
Since I took up running two years ago I’ve probably done close to 5000 kilometres without ever getting an injury, maybe I need one to give me a kick in the hole, I quite enjoy running and in my head I feel that putting big mileage in the back now will help when it comes to marathon training, I bonked at mile 22 in Dublin last year
