We used to trek up to the one in Mount Melleray in summer in the 80s when visiting the cousins in Clogheen. They tried to convince us that they saw Mary dancing in the hills at night when they going to bed.
What’s interesting about that?
Two guys no?
@farmerinthecity is very backwards about that kind of thing
It’s a Queen concert not Mohill
Ok - we’ll move swiftly on.
What’s interesting is that the Queen concert at Slane in 1985 was in fact held in 1986, a bit like the 2020 Olympics were held in 2021 and the 2001 Ryder Cup was held in 2002 and the 2024 American football Superbowl final was held in 2025.
Oh right,I thought it was Keir Starmer or something
Are you sure it’s 2 men.There were a lot of manly looking wimmin around in the 80s @Fagan_ODowd @balbec @Chancer @Elvis_Brandenberg_Kr
I think we should all move on mate.
There were some frightful harridans alright. The Golden Thatch in Emly was a hotspot for them. Farm strong and mad for iron. Bulgaden and Madonnas of Charleville had their share too.
The townies in the city used to doll up a bit finer but they’d fight better than most decent men.
We had only pretty women in Waterford @Massey
I wouldn’t doubt it
The 80’s you say
You’d want to have been out and about in the 60’s…
The final scenes in that 86 episode with Mary Black singing Neidin and the lads and lassies getting on boats, buses and planes and not looking back is extremely poignant, I’d love to know what became of those people
The headband is definitely attached to a woman, she even has a little bun in her hair
It would have been very very unusual to see two men kissing in public back then, it still is to be honest
Some did well for themselves and some didn’t.
Always very poignant, some yearn for the good old days, but I couldn’t imagine anything as depressing as getting on a bus to go digging ditches in Birmingham or some other kip.
Amazing the lads who still think this was when we were a real country
