Republic of Ireland WNT - We're all part of Vera and Tony O'Donoghues Army

So you never sang an IRA song at a house party, pub or on holidays? Pull the other one.

So do you approve of the team singing about the IRA? Especially given that the scorer of the goal was talking about the victims of the Creeslough explosion?

Are some explosions which kill people bad and some good? Is that it?

I donā€™t condone it but we have all sang those songs including you.

So you approve of the apology from the FAI and the team?

I just saw the video.

Ffs sake - who shared that :joy::joy:

Didnā€™t read it to be honest mate.

Micheal O Regan calling out Limerick culture here

Timmy Dooley played that beautifully :joy:

Lynn Boylan in the green blazer is struggling badly

Michael Oā€™Regan is some Uncle Tom.

SF and Republicanism will get a boost from this story, most sane people realise they made a mistake singing a song briefly and theyā€™ve apologised so the over reaction will play into their hands.

Wasnā€™t there a crowd selling rashers who used Some say the Devil is dead in an ad campaign not too long ago. Dont recall all this outrage then

come out you black and hams youā€™re thinking of are you ?

Yes. Was all a good laugh then. A bunch of girls do it and the media and chattering classes go into meltdown. Hard not to think there is an sexist undercurrent to the criticism they are recieving here

Just goes shows a lot of those who pretended to be outraged over the Michaela McAreavey song in reality had no problem with songs glorifying murder, as long as itā€™s the murders of themmuns that are being celebrated.

I would have thought the song is inoffensive enough except for the Up The Ra bit. Maybe it refers to the good IRA of the early 20th century?

All RAs are good.

Thereā€™s no such thing as a bad IRA, some are just better than others

should we not sing songs until every last one of the imperialist bastards has left our island. Or something

we need everything to be restored to pre 1169 - we will sing whatever songs we want until then.

I somehow doubt it given given the song dates from 1987 and was written by a group which routinely glorified the PIRA.

Iā€™m sure lapsed poster @hill16bhoy never sang the Celtic Symphony with gusto on his various trips to Parkhead.
