The fact is since the qualifiers came in, Cork have met Kerry 6 times in the AI series proper and have came up short all times, never once even seriously looking like taking Kerry’s scalp.

2002 - 15 point defeat.
2005 - 13 point defeat

2008 - draw (after Kerry fucked away a massive lead late on) and 4 point defeat

Huge fan. Totally cooincidentally and non playing related i have spoke to him a few times recently. A gent doesn’t describe it.

But what a footballer. His ability to find space, pick a pass was as good as anyone. However he has that wonderful trick of getting out of the way at the right time too.

His performance against Tyrone in 09 was remarkable.

Another major thing, he made Kerrigan look really good. He is a phenom with fast half backs or forwards, he brings them into the game so well. Super economical as well, and not in the way of lacking bravery, he would go for anything if it was the best ball on.

The 3 scores he created off Tomas O’Se in this years County Semi were just the best example of his ability i had seen in a while. Not many cuter than Tomas, but he out foxed him 3 times.

ah here now Kev, Tomas O’Se in 2016, created scores off Tomas as he heads off into the sunset us hardly one to hammer home your point.

Don’t get me wrong I liked Kelly. He was one of Corks more creative players compared to the crash bang wallop of O’Neill and Kerrigan but was never the go to man for me. Didn’t score a whole pile either and in fact can recall him turning back from scoring positions to recycle the ball. So maybe he was actually a Ciaran Kilkenny in a team of MDMAs!
