Personally could never tire of it, great days. There has been a noticeable shift back to the pack since the replay win over Kerry. Covid and the shortened season last year aided us (could have gone either way). This year I think we’ll be caught however, same starting options aren’t there and the options from the bench have dramatically reduced, when in the heat of battle. Its up to others now to put it up to us though of course
I would say the Semi Final & Final every year from 2011-2019 were all box office with the exception of 2018 which was a damp squib.
Leinster obviously a waste of time and all quarter finals/super 8 games also.
But the 2011 final, 2012 semi loss to Mayo, 2013 Semi & Final, 2014 Donegal match, 2015 semi final x2 v Mayo (final maybe not great), 2016 semi v Kerry & Final x2, 2017 Final, 2019 semi & Final x2 were all absolutely enthralling spectacles.
The 2017 final is the highest, most intense standard of football ever played. A masterpiece. The 2013 semi-final was probably slightly more off the chain excitement wise but not as high a standard.
O’Sullivan was hooked shortly after as Bradley was giving him a bit of run around and Dublin began to get on top.
Dublin hit two quick fire goals in a period shortly before half time and Tyrone folded.
To beat Dublin you need to be hitting about 3 goals. Only Mayo are capable of matching a 15 man Dublin without it needing to be a goalfest at the Dublin end.
All of that. Two teams at their absolute peaks. The star quality of the players. The recognisable names. The individual battles. The quality of the defences, midfields and attacks. The expectation that this would be a true classic, which was fulfilled and then some.
That moment when Mayo go 2 up with 63 mins gone and the whole crowd go quiet as Cluxton takes the short kickout and Ger Canning goes in the most ghastly tone of all time, ‘So Dublin, what have you got left?’
