Retiring GAA Stars tribute thread - May cause brain/neck damage

Not so much toughness that though as any cruciate sufferer will tell you.
Did any county man ever miss a Munster final with sunburnt legs?

Other than Tompkins
It was a Munster quarter-final and I think it was sunburnt feet.

Karol Mannion gone from the Rossies.

knew the name for years but never knew what he was like as a footballer until last year with brigids… very tidy footballer for such a big man …might have lacked the blistering pace needed to be top intercounty player but classy footballer nonetheless…

A good player in fairness to him. Started off at full forward and possessed a blistering shot. Didn’t suit the role and could be easily snuffed out. Spent the latter part of his career at midfield and centre forward in more of a play making hard working type of role.

He lived near me in Dublin at one stage. Seemed to be an unassuming type of chap.

A scorer of great goals as opposed to a great goalscorer. Much better coming onto the ball than ball winning as Farmer pointed out. He did some service, respect where its due, got a nice day out in Croker last year to be fair to him.

some turn of phrase there pal…are you Steve the pirate from dodgeball by any chance?..aarghhh…:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a big Othello fan.

I have done the state some service, and they know’t, No more of that.

Must have been hard for Mannion to stay unassuming given his high profile role with some backwater GAA team.

They have won more than Limerick in his time, in fact ever.

And…

Bit rich for a Limerick football man to be sarcastically mocking him.

I wasn’t mocking him. I was mocking Farmer.

He won an All Ireland Club Championship mate.

Hardly a backwater GAA team.

All GAA players should be unassuming.

that’s a serious clamping right there

i suppose they should

its hard stay grounded when you get a free polo shirt with the county crest on it and collars you can turn up…you get to not socialize for the best years of your life, instead spend every night training, stay in Ireland every summer ,free into coppers ,playing in croke park …its hard deal with all them perks and stay level headed…

Kinda

An All Ireland Club Senior Medal is worth ten times more than any medal earned on the Inter-County scene. Well done Karol Mannion:clap:
