Retiring GAA Stars tribute thread - May cause brain/neck damage

Statement on behalf of Tipperary hurler Eoin Kelly

December 2, 2014

Having announced my retirement from the Tipperary senior hurling team after fifteen seasons, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the many people who have supported me during my career.

Those fifteen years playing with my county have provided me with experiences and memories that will live with me forever.

I have been honored to wear the famous Blue and Gold with, and against, some of the greatest players in the country and I am very lucky to call many of them friends.

Firstly and most importantly, I would like to thank my wife Sarah and my family for their continued support and encouragement. I would especially like to thank my parents who were my biggest supporters throughout my career.

I would also like to thank the people of Mullinahone and the many coaches and trainers who tirelessly promote hurling in our area of South Tipperary.

I would like to thank the Tipperary County board, the Tipperary Management Teams that I served under and most importantly the Tipperary people for their continued support, encouragement and loyalty.

I would like to wish the current Tipperary Senior Team every success in the forthcoming year.

Wouldn’t that just sicken your shit

Eoin Kelly was a genius in his prime.Unfortunetly he stayed on about 3 years too long which doesn’t help when people start discussing his greatness.

So he should have retired at 29?

S&C coach left him down badly alright.

The medics were allegedly giving him epidural injections before games. Madness. You’d fear for him later in life

Not this Season or last. 2012 Season he had serious issues with a disc in his back. Played through the pain barrier for 2/3 years.

He was injured more or less solidly with his back circa 2008-2009. When Tipp played Cork in Thurles in '09 it was Kelly’s first match in nearly a year.

Has it been established here who was better Nicky or Eoin Kelly?

Paul Flynn

Me arse

Ray Cox and James Glancy have donned the Green n Gold for the last time.

Stephen Hiney, some warrior for Dublin. With the added problem of diabetes, fair play to him.

JJ gone now. Best player I ever saw.

Just seen the rumours, an outstanding player and leader. One of the all time greats. Words wouldnt do him justice really.

5 gone, that leaves 1…

An outstanding hurler, will go down as 1 of the best of the current generation. Probably the best reader of the game I have seen.

To JJ. :clap::clap::clap:

Probably was.

Now KK are in trouble,an absolute monster of a hurler!

Delaney was a fine hurler no doubt and no forward ever got anything soft off him. Possibly the best defender ever.

However his assault of Lar Corbett in Nowlan Park last year taints his legacy in my book.
