Retiring GAA Stars tribute thread - May cause brain/neck damage
Delaney was a fine hurler no doubt and no forward ever got anything soft off him. Possibly the best defender ever.

However his assault of Lar Corbett in Nowlan Park last year taints his legacy in my book.
Fuck Lar Corbett.

Is this for real? Where is it being reported, nothing on jj’s twitter afaik

gaa.ie, pal. Statement from Delaney up on the site.

You’re old news.

So there.

He’ll be the biggest loss of all the players who have retired. Just a classy hurler, as said above a magnificent reader of the game. Just so reliable. 8 out of 10 every game and often better than that.

It’s Kilkenny and they’ll never be short of quality players but all these retirements have to have an impact, even on them with a conveyor belt of players.

Lar is an alright sort.

Kilkenny are shitting themselves about the Leinster championship draw.

2013 - a Wexford minor team built around Conor McDonald goes to Nowlan Park and tramples all over the bastards in the Leinster championship.

2014 - a Wexford U21 team built around Conor McDonald goes to Nowlan Park and tramples all over the bastards in the Leinster championship.

2015 - a Wexford senior team built around Conor McDonald will go to Nowlan Park and trample all over the bastards in the Leinster championship.

These rats are deserting a sinking ship.

All these big names gone, yet JJ is the only one from the team that started the AI replay to go. Surprised he went, thought there’d be another year or two in him. Some operator.

Al Ireland replay aside he struggled a bit last summer, by struggled I mean he wasn’t as good as his own high standards.
probably a good decision on his part to bow out on a high and on his own terms.

Two milennuim team candidates retiring in the same week, they will be missed from the game.

JJ was like the Denis Irwin of hurling, except he appeared to be sound and not a cunt. Can’t remember him ever having a bad game.

Dennis Irwin had loads of shit games. Big Mick McCarthy rightly dropped him from the Ireland side for a spell.

I was talking about JJ not having bad games FFS sake

Jaysus Stephen Hiney wasn’t that good

Poor ol Hiney, overshadowed once more by the Kilkenny men.

I didn’t hear you moaning about Kelly striking Canning, a bit of perspective please.

The booing and jeering from that kk crowd when lar had to go off injured is my abiding memory from nowlan park 2013

One of the best ever IMO

Wildish pull by Kelly alright. Ball was there though. Yellow card, nothing more.

Delaney punched a defenceless man on the ground. A massive difference. Did he ever serve a suspension for it?
