Road to Nowhere 2018

I cannot wait for all the bravado and talk of William Wallace from the scotch, forgetting their selection of this state of affairs themselves.

The cunts always land easy… England and Scotland must be the most heated international pairing possible. They really hate each other… If only England would grant the Scots their freedom.

Wales are a better team than us. In saying that we have a chance of qualifying ahead of them that we wouldn’t have with the like of Germany, Spain or even England. Easily the least worst option to get. They’ll be equally buoyant looking at that group.

No outstanding team and every team will drop points against each other. It’s the best we could have hoped for.

Serbs will walk this.
Just won the u.21s too, and as we all know that translates directly into Senior success.

Fuck sake. Every fucking time the jammy cunts.

It puts other so called bitter rivalries like Serbia-Croatia and Greece-Turkey in the shade.

I’m trying to remember the last time to were in a tough qualifying group… 1994???

Sweden won the Euro under 21s last month

Given that top two only is any good in this campaign, far more important to get top two seeds that we could plausibly finish ahead of than for the rest of the draw to be soft. We’ll rightly be fourth favourites, but can’t complain about that draw at all.

Eire have traditionally relied on better teams dropping silly points against minnows to qualify so from that point of view it’s better to have “stronger” minnows.

Yep, and in recent years our results have been excellent against those lower ranked teams. Nothing impressive in terms of individual results but those points have kept us in contention because we drop 2 points at least every time we play a high seed home or away.

Draw could have been a lot worse but we haven’t a hope in hell of qualifying

Presuming Wales qualify for the European Championships I would think there’s a reasonably good chance they’ll suffer a “hangover” from that tournament. Wales at home would be an ideal start for the Oirish with a good chance to notch a big win in the first match.

Are the rota of fixtures decided automatically by FIFA or does that only apply if all the countries fail to reach agreement with each other first?

Wales at home would be a nice start alright, if they are after being at the Euro’s.

Done by UEFA I think. As far as I know, the days of it being hammered out by the teams involved is over since they introduced the staggered staging of games over multiple days.
