Road to Nowhere 2018

Fuck, the bottom teams are harder than the top two seeds.
All in all, not so bad.

Bad draws for Sweden and Albania.

Wales.
Austria.
Serbia.
Us.
Georgia.
Moldova.

Could have been worse. Started badly and got better as it went on.

If we get at least a draw in our away games to Wales, Serbia & Austria then we have a good chance.

Group of death there for the Republic

My prediction

  1. Serbia
  2. Oireland
  3. Austria
  4. Georgia
  5. Wales
  6. Moldova

Not really. Top two seeds are softest enough.
All teams are beatable.

I expect this to be the group of draws. Lots of draws.

If they don’t qualify from that group it will be the death of international soccer in this country.

Some very appetising away trips there for Eire fans, if you’re into that sort of thing. I imagine the Serbian nationalist clique on this forum will be looking forward to going to Belgrade.

I don’t ever remember Eire playing Moldova before.

Why would you expect Wales to struggle. They have the likes of Bale and Ramsey who are far superior and creative players to anything Ireland has and they are building a good young team around them

Like every group in Eire’s history.

But they won’t be able to call on the coaching expertise of Raymond Verheijen.

Tough draw for us, probably have to settle for a playoff place with Spain finishing top.

They’ve had tasty players over the years, and still never did shit. I think they are punching above their weight at the moment and will come back to the pack in a couple of years. Their won’t much separating this group at the end, I expect a blanket finish.

Missed England’s group… where did they land?

The world’s greatest sporting rivalry is renewed again.

England, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Malta

They got The Jocks & Slovakia amongst others, I think.

They have a better balanced squad that they had previously, they may well not qualify but i don’t see them dropping to 5th. They have been a consistent side for the past couple of years and have gotten wins against sides ranked ahead of them. Ireland haven’t beaten a team ranked above them in a long time. The likes of Joe Allen and Joe Ledley give them a very solid midfield to build a team around
