Rocko's Theatre Review Thread

Have you ever read the novel ‘The seduction of morality’ by him. While not by any standard an epic it’s enjoyable, risqué, bawdy, sad and funny in equal measures. I thoroughly enjoyed it albeit 20 years ago.

I’ve never read any of his novels. I’ll give it a go and report back.

Heathers in the BGE last night. I got a late call up and went along grudgingly as I had wanted to try out the GAAGO on the telly and watch Limerick beat Clare with their caps.
I had seen the movie when it was released back in the day, but I don’t remember much about it other than it left me feeling a little cold.
This musical is obviously a big cult thing and a lot of the audience came in costume in the style of the Rocky Horror. If you can get your head around the notion of a feel good musical that has teen suicide as its central theme it was quite a good show with good big numbers.
On the whole I enjoyed it.

Just saw ‘from a low and quiet sea’ in the Belltable

Powerful piece of theatre, basically a faithful recreation of the book, outstanding

Im very jealous. I love that musical. When is it on til?

Yet they’re eulogising Roy Curtis. The shite that Shakespeare wrote has lasted centuries.
Odes to cathedrals of porter and 6 time champions are unlikely to have similar longevity.

But Shakespeare has lots to answer for.

The best musical of them all. Impossibly hard to play for the orchestra. Savour their musicianship.

Another couple of weeks

I was only messing Boxty. I’m happy to admit Shakespeare was a better writer than Roy Curtis. If it came to a pint drinking contest however…

Given I’d imagine the same fella drinking it from the slops tray, I’d say you’re spot on.

Never seen it. Your post has prompted me to change that. Taking herself and the daughter to tonight’s showing.

Deadly. I broached the idea with mrs j but it was a non runner. The kids had already had a late one at the ireland game on monday and weve two nights of mini-leagues this week.

Whether I enjoy the play or not, be nice to do something with the evening with the pair of them.

Been at a tonne of matches with the young fella past few weeks so nice to do something with the ladies of the house.
