Correct having had to deal with the thugs and they are scum for over 20 years I can categorically state they should never be allowed out of their siege mentality hovels ,not a mind left do what they did at strokesestown minded by the blue shirt gardai
Yes you’re correct, reason why mortgages cost so much in Ireland is greed
Incorrect , most ppl being evicted don’t raise a stink, evictions are carried out monthly, most ppl just give in and leave
There’s several factors at play, but NPLs and frigid courts are one.
Irish banks have restructured over 100 thousand mortgages, a bit over 1 in 6 of the current loans in issue in Ireland. 22k are in long term arrears.
Meanwhile in 10 years less than 1% of the current mortgage loan books have had repossession orders, and half of those repossessed. This is purely a guess but I would say a lot of those homes were likely Celtic Tiger BTLs.
People get evicted and it is sad, but this idea that they won’t do anything for people in trouble is a nonsense.
its a convenient flag for the banks to hide behind. and its a laugh for the bankers to be blaming the justice system when there should be several of them behind bars for the coordinated illegality that was the tracker scandal.
the biggest fault falls with the EU for not having an open EU wide market on mortgages.
Cheers for making no point whatsoever.
The reality is that with so many non performing loans, the banks have to make money back in some way.
Tracker mortgages and a lack of competition are big factors as well, no question.
i presume that you’ve done an EU wide comparison to stand over that statement?
I presume you’ve been asleep the last 10 years.
Having listened attended cork courthouse ref arrears etc you’re speaking through your ass, vast majority of cases I’ve heard in court the last few years make up summons not being served correctly, banks lying, not being able to produce ownership deeds etc,ppl being lied to and fobbed off, remember these ppl are at the stage when in court having been browbeaten , subdued for yonks
educate yourself
You googled a paper and posted it. The sum total of your argument here was that Bankers should go to jail, well done.
I said you must have been asleep as it is patently obvious to anyone with a brain that Ireland had and still has significant bad debts.
The reason why the banks have been selling their NPLs to vulture funds is because their balance sheets were way over the percentage the regulators told them to be at and way above peer countries elsewhere. Part of that is the difficulty in enforcing security in Ireland. A monkey would be able to work out that with that factor at play, someone else is going to pay.
You are arguing with facts here. Ireland has low levels of repossessions. The High Court here ensured that.
So none of those in attendance were in arrears? Am I correct is getting that from your posts?
facts without context or comparison
compared to what? and the figures you quote don’t factor in voluntary surrenders either.
The paper you quoted and clearly didn’t read sets it out actually.
Ireland has/had (they have gone down since that paper) a significant amount more of NPL than the European average. The majority of those are also domestic. That is going to cost more money.
yes Ireland is above the EU average, but if youd read the paper I posted youd also note that there are other countries also above the EU average and yet their average mortgage rates are significantly lower than ours.
What’s your point?
Do all of these have legacy tracker mortgages? You are failing here at something you asked of me.
I stated that there are numerous factors at play including competition and trackers.
As I said, a monkey could work out that when you have a significant overhang of NPLs that someone else will have to make up for that.
Sure has.
Imagine having well over 800k in irresponsible, unpaid debts which you have refused to engage with for a decade and having vigilante thugs wielding baseball bats, setting fire to vehicles and killing dogs on your behalf.
The Gombeens playing the fools for what they are yet again.
“Vigilantes” doubtful, that was well organized, otherwise ppl would have been killed, military action, fair dues to them, remember Tom Barry met force with force,as did Collins,of course Ireland has always had shauneens like you tnx God not too many
