Mass evictions during the famine… There was an initial 1400 given a choice of the side of the road or assisted emigration to Canada I think it was… Then there was another bunch who resisted to the death… Beat up lads serving notices, resisted the police and bailiffs, loads of mini battles… Big court case etc. etc. … They’ve a tradition of fighting evictions, so they do.
This is why I dont think the vigilante group were necessarily defending your man, who clearly acted the cunt - but the threat of eviction runs deep in this part of the world and the boys were sending out a message - not on our watch… I dont have to tell rural poster here how deep historical memory runs in the country side. And the pain of the famine still lives in many rural areas. Great to see a bit of community policing all the same.
I think the first killing of a landlord as a reprisal for eviction during the famine occurred in Strokestown.
There was a high profile killing yes – the name escapes me.

Did you ever see such bullshit. This was 100% locals laying down a marker because of the thuggish way the eviction was carried out and fair fucks to them, heroes all!
If the cops want to find the perps all they have to do is check the local sports shops for a surge in baseball bat sales.

That’s the boy — and a Caffolic landlord as well I think?
Is that when the Mahon tribunal started?

There was of course locals involved but you can be sure they were Led by external elements.
To think otherwise is bizarre.
unfortunately this is par for the course with the indo, the establishment rag. if it was a proper paper theyd be querying whether or not the nordies were properly registered and compliant with the legislation. all the media is focused on the lad being evicted with no focus whatsoever on the what appears to be unregistered nordie shock troops being deployed here
I thought he was up on the charge and paid them? Did I read that wrong?
The focus should be on the guy who cheated the tax payer.

No. He underdeclared VAT by 400k.
Slap Murphy went to jail for less.
And he didnt make recompense for that figure?
You seem unsure so why do you believe the Indo haven’t done a background check?
Nope. He didn’t pay the back the money he owed. He cheated the tax payer, local businesses and the banks.

Shocking behaviour. He should be jailed indeed for that.

because its the fucking indo FFS, not a serious paper with real journalists
I don’t think people understand the level of prick acting it requires for a Bank to make a move on property in this Country legally.
This cowboy only moved back into the residence a week or so before this crowd went to evict.
He’s a desperate cunt according to my sources.
