Funny thread, the pretend Italians rehashing the usual bullshit and a few new disciples running with it
I would say that he regrets that comment. His mention of ‘as if no one else has…’ showed his more human side.
The first few goals against Sheffield United and Honved
In short - a hardworking journeyman
that was Triggs he was referring to
As opposed to a tryhard journeyman?
Uruguay has that accolade, mate
Love the way the Keane fanboys never mention he was destroyed by a trainee joiner in the Scottish cup
I’ll change it to “pound for pound the greatest European football nation” then mate if it makes you happy
Thanks for your roundabout way of saying you were utterly and completely wrong in your statement
I’ll change it to “pound for pound the greatest European football nation” then mate if it makes you happy
I’m not so sure that happened. It’s one of those urban myth thingys.
But let’s assume it did. He’s old, broken down, bad hips and bad knees, playing up the side of a fucking hill in Jockland. He stayed on too long.
That one game has defined his career for you…
You do some amount of mental gymnastics to agree with your master
Well done on your INTERNET victory m8
What exactly is the story with Keane getting destroyed in the Scottish Cup Final by a butcher? What season was it, what was the final score, what was the plumber’s name? How exactly did the binman destroy him? It seems to have made a greater impact on TFK’s perception of Roy Keane than the general public.
Keane was a fantastic footballer , had a great engine and inspired players to play at a higher level … no one is saying he is one of the world’s greatest ever … but he was a top, top player. His performances against Portugal and Holland in that qualifying campaign were phenomenal - I was at the home Portugal game and he was head and shoulders above every player on the pitch… He had plenty of faults also, but who hasn’t.
Just had a quick look at the stats for this and the final score vs Portugal was 1-1 . Portugal had 9 attempts,Oireland 4 , Portugal had 60% possession.
Funnily enough the stats away from home were much better
Figo ran the show at Landsdowne Road.
As opposed to a tryhard journeyman?
He could probably be labelled that too, especially his media output
Figo ran the show at Landsdowne Road.
agreed
Wasn’t it his debut at Clyde in the cup in the January after he left Manchester Reds? January 2006 or 2007? His contract was cancelled in November or something but he couldn’t play until January.
There was a bit of a media circus about who he’d sign for. Moysie was in for him at the Toffees apparently and Real Madrid were linked too, but he always bottled playing in a big league. Who could forgot how he pulled out of the second leg in Iran but starred for the Devils at home to Bradford three days later?
Anyway he signed for Celtic and there was huge anticipation about his debut given the long wait before he could play. The new year eventually dawned but he was absolutely destroyed by some guy who’d been working as a takeaway delivery driver the night before. Celtic were dumped out by the minnows and I still maintain Roy Keane cost Du Wei his Celtic career.
yep, id agree with all that
Can you throw up the link there to the stats pal.
