I’ll need to have a good think about my favourite correspondent actually, @Blake. Is that sarcasm regarding Coleman? Forgive me, I’m rather tired. What became of her anyway?
Actually, does anyone else think Sean Whelan is a bit out of his depth with the Economics Correspondent brief? He was fine talking shite over in Brussels for years but I sense he’s not all that sharp on the macro issues facing the country.

Not at all, she genuinely was the best correspondent we ever sent stateside. She absolutely roasted Bush famously and was internationally recognised for doing so.
I’d agree regarding Whelan, he is winging it a lot of the time and lacks the nuanced and expert knowledge of Connelly or even McCullagh. He was a smashing foreign war correspondent though.

Remember Brian Dowling*? Is he knocking around these days?
Political Correspondent with a lisp as opposed to former Big Brother contestant.

Wasn’t Leitrim’s finest Carol banging Charlie Bird?
She’s been doing bitsey news stories since she came on the scene. Like one Saturday reporting on a murder, the next week reporting on a strike and the following week reporting on the Young Scientists Exhibition.
Good points on Whelan above. He’s out of his depth. He’s fine as a reporter but his current role demands much more.
I imagine RTÉ were a bit burned by Charlie Bird and his stateside dramatics and are more interested in a competent reporter than a household name this time.
As ever, Marty Morrissey was a good sport at the National Ploughing Championships in Co. Laois yesterday.
When RTE Radio One’s Colm Flynn asked some of the ladies among the 125,000 attendance what the popular GAA commentator’s most attractive feature was, they said it was his eyebrows!
“It’s his sexy eyebrows. They’re just indescribable,” one female fan smiled.
Another Marty admirer said: “He’s the whole package, isn’t he?”
When the Clare man was later introduced to the same ladies, one of them was only too happy to tell him to his face of her love for his facial features.
Asked by Flynn what makes his eyebrows so special, a blushing Marty replied: “I have no idea. Sheer utter, natural talent!”
