People don’t just lie because they are guilty.
Very often it is out of fear and/or confusion.
Lying is an Irish trait to get out of small situations all the time. These lads most likely were well versed in a bit of bullshitting but totally underestimated the seriousness of this situation.

There are plenty rapes going on about the place,and knowing the moderators like i do they could feed you a rape trial here and there if you promised to stay around.

Heard rosanna cooney on a podcast there earlier. She mentioned that a key part of Dara florence evidence was that all the ‘sexual noises’ that she had been hearing from the bedroom stopped when she opened the door of the room. Ms cooney felt this was going to be a very significant piece of evidence in outcome

It is on the scale we do it.
For all the places I have lived or nationalities I have encountered only the Israelis are close or similar.
We lie away everything and that mentality is so evident in daily, political and public life that it is completely acceptable to everyone.
