They were questioned in connection with a rape. Do you think they underestimated a rape charge, that was the question posed to you which you responded to with a question, a bizarre question with no correlation to the original question posed?

We dont know they were sexual though, complainant said she was choking and gagging too… Dara Florence’s is what you interpret it. She didn’t see distress, but she didn’t see action or engagement from the complainant either.
She said: “The moaning - I thought it was Emily. It wasn’t distressed or anything like that - I don’t know that it was a sexual thing because I wouldn’t have opened the door… just enough that it was Emily.”
Back up the truck there kev. She was completely neutral in her reporting of that piece of evidence. She passed no opinion (nor did I) as to which side it would favour. Just that it was a very significant point

This story started on the night of the party.
For a period of tine the lads would not have realised the seriousness of the situation.
The evidence being heard takes in everything from that night.
So it’s very plausable they were blowing off any suggestion of this with indifference and white lies and poor memory. This was clearly not a premeditated or agressively violent rape from predatory type psychopaths if a rape happened (in the legal sense) at all.
Then when brought into police they were even more confused. That was some time later and would have been a surprise. They clearly didn’t come up with too much of a correlated story and I think that indicated they and least never realised there was anything to answer to.
It’s of absolutely no consequence.

They underestimated the situation as delivered to them from Harrison.
I also believe that even in the stage of being with police they felt that it would go away and was no case or a weak case.
I don’t think they underestimated the rape charge when actually brought against them.
But clearly if the rumours are through them or the people around them felt the hem hey could buy their way out.
