Gilpin says that RWC is issuing advice to all rubgby fans in the Tokyo and Yokohama areas âto stay indoors, not to travel and to monitor Rugby World Cup through digital and social channelsâ.
Decision to be made on the Scotch game Sunday morning. Farcical scenes.
Alan Gilpin has been asked about the Scotland match, which is slated for Sunday and has not yet been cancelled, with Gilpin saying RWC would make a decision about the game on Sunday morning after reviewing weather conditions.
The reporter asks if conditions mean it canât be played on Sunday, whether RWC might consider moving the match to a different venue, or delaying to a difference day, given the significance of the match and the fact it is effectively a knockout match for Scotland,
Gilpin says they have been striving for consistency with their contingency policy.
âItaly are in exactly the same position Scotland are in,â says Gilpin. He says that while Scotland v Japan is a âhuge matchâ and theyâd obviously love it to go ahead âWe wonât be treating that match, if it canât be played, any differently.â
RWC Head, Alan Gilpin offers no sympathy to affected teams and fans;
âNo regrets at all,â he says. âI think what youâve all seen over the last three weeks, absolutely in all respects vindicates the decision to hold the tournament here in Japan.
âItâs rare for a typhoon of this magnitude to cause these impacts this late in the typhoon season.
âWeâve made the right decision.â
Iâd imagine whenever the scummy soccer crowd manage to roll outta their beds, theyâll be very critical of tonightâs statement.
Farcical. Pretty much every other alternative would have been better than cancelling the games. Add a fortnight to the comp if you had toâŚ
Seems they will wait and see what damage is done before making decision on Scots and Japan game
Amateur hour
the scummy soccer crowd will be all over this
could Italy have qualified if they had beaten NZ?
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Youâve got to hand it to the TFK rugby set.
Theyâve been screeching for weeks about how competitive this RWC is - and now they have been vindicated by lowly Italy grabbing a draw against the all conquering New Zealand sideâŚ
looks like Oireland come second in the group
1000s of oirish fans assumed that we would win the group and have bought tickets and accommodation for the other quarter final
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
@ChairmanDan?? You lied to your e-friends?
the scummy soccer crowd will be all over this
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
If some of the q finals are cancelled what happens then? This is farcical.
Well mannered rioting on the streets of Tokyo?
Ireland should pull out
Never change rubby, never change.
Wouldnât be the first time, they are usually gone home early from World Cupâs anyway.
This is Schmidtâs fault
Supporters who bought tickets for the cancelled matches will get a full refund.
Thatâs very kind of the organisers.
Quarter final secured. Mission accomplished.
