Speaking to the Irish Sun, Ryan said: “Noel negotiated the best deal. He is the best in the business and always was … and he’s got on extremely well with the management here at Virgin.

“I’ve had a bunch of people around me, advising me in the last few months and they have been spectacular. And Noel is the best in the land.”

Sure good luck to him on his new gig,
I’ll wait for the verdict from the TFKers who’ll be glued to the radio ready to give an honest assessment :+1::+1:

Tubs has gone from €250k a year for him with RTÉ to £250k a year for him and his team at Virgin.

I was absolutely apoplectic when I read his sit down/long interview with The Sunday Times towards the end of last year. What with the self pity, entitlement, validation for his position from people who are now dead & all the rest. Are Sunday Times & Virgin part of the Murdoch stable? The fawning over Tubridy was sickening, you’d swear it was Darren Frehill they were interviewing. But getting back to your post above, I was immediately heartened at the time by follow up articles in other publications after that Virgin announcement where they stated Tubridy’s package was reported to be around £70k.

From the Irish Mirror back in November:

Tubridy will also host a dedicated Irish weekend show meaning he will be on air to audiences six days a week.

The show will broadcast live from London and air simultaneously on Dublin’s Q102.

But an insider said Tubridy isn’t well known to UK audiences, and it is believed the star cut a deal that sees him earning no more than €100k – a stark contrast to his days as RTE’s highest-paid presenter for several years.

"His profile just isn’t big enough in the UK, but he could be taking home between €70k to €100k. It’s great for him though.

“He will really have to start from the bottom and work his way to the top again.”

His pal Chris Evans earns over £2million, according to the BBC’s latest figures. :astonished: He tops the list of talent earning mega-bucks working at the station.

Speaking about the move, a clearly elated Tubridy, 50, said: "I couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter. New city, new stations, new beginnings. I love radio and what a joy to be back. It’s been a pleasure getting to know my new friends at Virgin Radio, all of whom have been warm, engaging and very entertaining. It will be great to be back on the radio in the UK and across Ireland.

"And big thanks to the London Irish who have made me feel so welcome in recent weeks. On a personal note, this is a big day for my wonderful family who I hope to make proud, and also the people who advised me so well recently and got me to this moment.

“To the listeners, wherever they may be, I urge you to join us on this adventure every weekday morning - and across Ireland at the weekend. There is much fun to be had!”

But wait til the uk listeners fall in love with him. He’ll have a much bigger profile to work the angles with his side deals. That 70k base could be a cool million a year once all his brand endorsements are in. Renault can fuck off. It’ll be land rover and Greggs.

Also, and this affects us all, youth reading levels in the uk will skyrocket while ours here will plummet. Our workforce will be thick as mince, with the comprehension skills of @Biff_Egan. England will become the go to for large mncs looking for a smart workforce, cos thats the real reason they go places.

Plus Virgin Radio only has about a 1% audience share. Callan mentions it when he rips the piss out of Tubridy on his 2023 review show.

And Noel will be taking his agency fee as well.

70k a year. Shur he used to get 70k a year for driving a free Renault

You’d be hard fit to live in London on 70K a year.

He have that electric scooter that Bono got him so that’ll help.

Plenty of young Irish over there in house & flat shares. A constant stream of people coming & going so there’s always spare places cropping up. I know a couple of folk looking for a roommate in Hammersmith at the moment as it happens.

That article is incredible.

“I met Chris for the post-show chat and he told me straight out that there were some great options in UK radio land. I told him that I had been in discussions with some of the main players.”

He could have gone anywhere but he choose getting paid fuck all by Virgin instead
